Hannah Bonner achieved her masters of divinity from Duke University Divinity School. Dedicated to amplifying the voices of young women, she produced a documentary, “Awaken the Voice,” to ensure that the young women she worked with in pursuing justice for Sandra Bland would be remembered. An avid hiker, Hannah can be found most evenings admiring a saguaro cactus along one of Tucson’s many trails. And now Hannah. Support her work on the border by giving to some of the organizations referenced in this episode: Desert Southwest Conference, Las Americas, and Coalición de Derechos Humanos.

  • Sarah Bowen―Spiritual Rebel

Sarah Bowen is a member of One Spirit Interfaith Seminary's academic staff, Spiritual Directors International, and several recovery communities. She is the best selling author of the award winning book Void if Detached: Seeking Modern Spirituality through my Father’s Old Sermons and newly released follow up title Spiritual Rebel: A Positively Addictive Guide to Finding Deeper Perspective and Higher Purpose.

Sarah seeks to help others connect with the higher power of their own understanding, in whatever way is meaningful to each. I just find her words to be way less angry and more sensical than mine so I really hope you embrace this discussion and walk away with some lessons as I did.

Her devotional “Re-Reading Ruth” has been featured in Our Bible App. This 5-day devotional explores the book of Ruth through several different ways, taking a closer look at what it says about women, story and myth, immigrants and refugees, and systematic oppression.

Our friends at Faith in Public Life are circulating a petition to push Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and every Senator to act on gun violence and end mass shootings. Senators must act now to free us from fear: Our family, friends and neighbors shouldn’t have to live in danger. Sign the petition.

  • A Game for Good Christians

In this episode I interview Ben Christian of A Game for Good Christians. Similar to Cards Against Humanity this card game is irreverent and will most likely make you spit out your drink if you’re not careful. The difference is that these cards are all sourced from Biblical material—and let the hilarity ensue! I hope you enjoy the show.
