We know soil is the foundation of life, right?
But we rarely stop to think about how much it shapes life beyond the farm. As a grower, you’re working hardest to take the best care of our soils. And as your soil nutrient experts, we’re the ones working hardest to help you get the most out of your soils.
So, it’s refreshing to stop and take a broader, lighter look at soil science in this episode with soil scientist and writer Alisa Bryce.
Our host Grey Johnston, CSBP Advice, Insights and Marketing Manager, does some digging with Alisa Bryce to unearth some fascinating insights from her new book, 'Grounded', which looks at how soil is woven into every thread of our existence - from the cricket pitch we play on, to the medicines we’re prescribed, and maybe, one day, to growing potatoes on Mars!
Alisa studied a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the University of Sydney, majoring in soil science, and a Master’s at Cambridge University.
She started her career in soil research digging up some of Australia’s most popular sporting grounds, including the Sydney Cricket Ground, and happily shares the secrets of how they get the turf looking so good for the test match.
If you fancy digging deeper, we’ve dropped some details about how you can get hold of a copy of Alisa Bryce’s book, ‘Grounded’.
