Until God's story is complete and we are united to him again, we cry out "How long?" This is a prayer uttered out of the depths of our struggles, fears, and desperation.

But it is not a prayer of anger.

"How long?" is a personal, heartfelt prayer of hope--one of restoration and expectation.

The depth of Advent honesty is not found in the question of "How long?", but rather in the question of "Why?" (v 12).

Advent hope is found when we know we can't work out our problems on our own, and when we realize our question of "Why?" will not be answered.

We find our hope in the God of hosts, in the Son of Man who will bring salvation and give us life. (v 14-19)
