In this episode of Cubs Out Loud, it’s time for another Let’s Talk About Sex. This time around, the guys spend some time talking about being homoflexible and heteroflexible. Gone are the days of ‘no homo’ as straights are finding interesting new ways to express the occasional need to find pleasure in the same sex and some gays are enjoying dabbling with the opposite sex every now and then. Listen in as the cubs break down these terms and reflect on their current surge in popularity. Is this something new or just a new way to say something that’s been around for a while?

They have so much to say, that they broke it down into two parts. In Part 2, the guys discuss the current rise in interest in Daddies. From dadbods to daddy porn, listen in as the cubs share their thoughts on this rise and how this may impact the community further.

It’s still 2026 and Father’s Day is right around the corner. In the last episode we discussed our history with Daddies. Recently we’ve seen the rise in interest and label of Daddy. Prior to the infamous year we lost [aka 2020], the conversation was about Dad Bods; guys a little thicker and/or with a belly on them. 

In 2023 interest in older gay men was reported to have moved from ageist ideas to a known preference [source: Queerty Daddy Era article]. In 2024, the spicy web platform Squirt.org reported the Daddy category of porn ranking as 6 in the Top 10 categories users seek out. And last year, Pride.com reported ‘14 Reasons Why Gays Love Daddies…’.

What do we think of the rise of popularity and interest in Daddies now? Have we found ourselves being the focus of interest by others because of perceived Daddiness?

In this episode of Cubs Out Loud, the guys return to a familiar topic to give it a deeper look. After recently discussing the future of bear runs (see COL818), new developments and losses to the bear community at large give the cubs reason to readdress this uncertainty. Taking time to deliberate the history and potential decline of bear culture, listen in as the guys discuss what the future holds for the community. Is it truly dying out or is it shifting and molding into something new.

In episode 818, we talked about the future of bear runs here in the US. In the past couple of weeks, we found out that another bear run is coming to an end. A tech founder from the earliest days for the bear online culture foundation left this mortal coil. 

Recently some were informed of the passing of one of the founders of the Bear Mailing List, aka the infamous BML in 1986. For those that don’t know, 

The Bears’ Mailing List (aka BML) is an Internet mailing list in digest format for gay and bisexual men who are bears themselves and for those who enjoy the company of bears. It is hosted by Roger Klorese and Henry Mensch. The BML is designed to be a forum to bring together folks with similar interests for conversation, friendship and sharing of experiences. Steve Dyer and Brian Gollum started the mailing list in  August 1988, and since then it has grown to a community of more than 1400 men (and a few women) world-wide.  On average, a new digest 20-30K bytes long arrives via email every other day or so.
