For years we've heard that we have to ditch our wooden cutting boards and buy plastic ones. Maybe you're already done that. Plastic was supposed to be more sanitary. You can put it in the dishwasher. Well, true, you can put it in the dishwasher and you have to wash wooden and bamboo boards by hand. But that's about it. They both can retain bacteria but if you properly wash them they're both safe. So why choose one over the other? Plastic is convenient - you CAN put it in the dishwasher. And wood? Well it's stylish, old school, and it feel great when you cut on it with a knife. So choose which ever you like and don't worry that one is cleaner than the other.
