On Husky Talk we have former UConn Football All Big East Linebacker Danny Lansanah who had a 9-year NFL career. An outstanding player who has been an underdog his entire life. After not being recruited for football, Coach Randy Edsall came to watch him play basketball where he dominated. UConn offered him a scholarship and he accepted.
Danny and his class were difference makers, playing on one of the top defenses in the country and UConn history. He started at Middle Linebacker, playing sideline to sideline and hit like a train. A two time All Big East selection, Danny prepared for the NFL.
From an undrafted free agent to the Green Bay Packers, to not playing for 2 years, getting picked up by the UFL, resurrecting his NFL career with the Jets and Buccaneers.
Now married with a child of his own, Danny coaches high school football and got into real estate. He owns rental properties and flips houses; his wife is a licensed relator.

Our guest on Husky Talk is one of the best Running Backs in UConn Football's History. Hartford's own Wilbur Gilliard. He was a tough, physical runner, who learned to make people miss from competing against his cousins, kill the carrier.
Recruited by several schools, Wilbur stayed in state and committed to UConn under coach Tom Jackson. Redshirting as a freshman, he played in one of the most talented backfields in UConn history with Eddie Long. Even splitting time, Wilbur is still in the record books for yards per carry, single season rushing yards, and touchdowns scored. He was the all-time leading rusher at UConn for many years.
After graduation, Wilbur sold cars and cell phones before moving to New York City where he started his own marketing company. A success on many levels, he was honored last week before the Buffalo game for being a team captain. Such a hilarious show, Wilbur is a funny guy, and I definitely look forward to meeting him.

Don't miss the best sports show in Worcester today, only on 97.9 FM Unity Radio with Executive Producer Ernie Floyd. We are ranked number 1 and only growing stronger.
We talk about the week 4 in the NFL and especially how Quarterbacks overall are least productive they have been since 2006. Frank and Dave attribute it to NFL defenses catching up to the offenses finally. Team who are balanced with running attacks are finding the most success.
College football upsets, the death of Pete Rose and more. Don't miss this week on Moneyline.

Husky Talk finally had one of my favorite guests on, UConn Football Defensive Linemen Ryan Timko. Big Slim as he was called, became a force up front. His story is remarkable because he played Volleyball and baseball primarily before being talked into playing football at Deland high in Florida. He played on a team with several division 1 players and was recruited by coaches coming to watch them, and being impressed with what Ryan was doing on the field.
After, he committed to UConn, he had a great career and was a starter. He was part of the foundation that led us into transitioning to a Division 1 program. After, he followed in his father's footsteps and attended optometry school in Boston. Married now with kids, he started his own practice after selling the business he joined on with his dad. Nobody can make you laugh and entertain like Big Slim, Ryan Timko!

Former UConn Volleyball alum Raftyn Rignell joins the show all the way from Minnesota. She was a competitor and tremendous athlete from the start playing on the high school varsity team in 7th grade. Also, she excelled in basketball where she went to the varsity squad in 9th grade. Being tall and athletic, she was recruited mainly from club volleyball where she had other teammates who played at the Division 1 Level.
Raftyn, determined to play at the highest level and leave Minnesota, packed her bags to come to UConn, committing after her official visit. She played well after coming back from two major injuries and ended up being a double major. We all had fun together hanging out and are excited for October 5th to see everyone again after decades!
She coached and is now a star influencer on social media, most noticeably Instagram. Her content is incredible, from showing projects she has done at home with her husband, to being a mom who is fun, entertaining, and down to earth. Married with 3 kids, close with her entire family and living in the same town, I am thrilled to see her success. Raftyn took a chance in 2019 and bet on herself, that drive with such a strong competitive spirit, combined with her passion is why she is continuing to grow her brand.

We had the pleasure of a special guest today, Former UConn Football star and Captain.... Mike Burton. I wanted to have him on months ago but his schedule always busy. I said it before and Ill say it again, Mike is the definition of what it means to Bleed Blue.
Nobody has given back more than Mike and his family. I asked why he continues to pay it forward and he credits his father for ingraining those values in him. Mr. Burton literally came from nothing and said earning a full scholarship to play football at Murray State changed his life. The lessons we learn from the greatest team sport ever are building blocks for life. Dedication, discipline, hard work, toughness, teamwork, and overcoming adversity are just to name a few.
Mike watched out and took care of me when I was a freshman. I admire and am thankful for his leadership. For once I'll let the podcast do the talking because this was a great one. I will say I am excited to sit with Mike at the Temple game on October 5th and have a blast.

UConn former football player Graig Vicidomino joins the show and was a blast to talk with. He shares an unbelievable story; you must listen to such an unlikely journey.
Graig played soccer until his junior year of high school at East Haven, CT before being recruited by the football coach to try out to be their kicker. Well, his pitch worked, and Graig won the job. He played on state championship teams and holds the East Haven record for longest field goal.
Originally, he was committed to play at Sacred Heart University. As I always say, when life gives you lemons.... well, you know the rest. A spot opened at UConn at the end of July and Graig accepted. Talk about a change of events!
The life of a kicker is extremely challenging, and Graig became close with starter, as well as avid Husky Talk supporter, Matt Nuzie. The pressure to perform, along with high expectations isn't always fair. Graig would replace Matt if he was struggling and made the most of those chances. He recalls an excellent game against Army and obviously being part of the first UConn team to go to a bowl game.
I never met Graig before and instantly liked him very much. Definitely a high IQ guy who is much smarter than I could ever be, he majored in Human Resources before staying at UConn to attend business school.
He took a job with Alliant Insurance in New York City and he has built a tremendous career over 17 years. Now, he is a senior vice president with the company because of his brilliance and work ethic. Determination, desire, grit and being confident is how I would describe Graig. I admire his perseverance, and all of his success was DESERVED because he EARNED everything himself.

Michael Burton and his team have done an outstanding job raising NIL donations through Bleeding Blue For Good. We want to continue our success in all sports and bring in top talent each year.
Mike and his family changed the course of UConn History with the launch of the Burton-Shenkman Center opened in 2006. At the time, it was the FIRST indoor college football facility in the northeast. Mike works because he wants UConn to continue winning as we enter into the NIL era.
I played with Mike for a season, I couldn’t be prouder or respect a man more. An incredible son, sibling, with a dynamic business mind, a beautiful family and fiercely loyal. He always gives to UConn and defines bleeding blue.
It’s us against the world…. and I like our odds!
Husky Talk returns with an alum who overcame the odds despite his height, former UConn Football speedster Lenny Dandridge.
Procyon Partners is a proud supporter of Husky Talk. They are a boutique Financial planning company offering many services including consulting for businesses and executives. President Sean Rabinowitz provides exceptional outcomes for his clients, go to www.procyonpartners.net to see how they can help you.
Lenny was a flash from the start and could always run. He did not have the height of his peers but made up for it with his outstanding athleticism. Offense, defense, special teams, he did it all in high school despite weighing less than 170 pounds.
UConn recruited Lenny and he came because of a chance to play early. Everyone underestimated him because of his size but he was a true playmaker. Came in as a defensive back but found success as a running back on offense. Along with Ed Long, Lenny was a perfect complement because he could get through small holes and once, he got to the second level it was over.
These day's Lenny has a family and a son who has division 1 talent. Not only that, but he is also brilliant like his father, Brock has a 4.3 GPA and scored a whopping 33 on the ACT. I don't think if you added both times, I took the test together you would get a 33. Brock is a dynamic running back for Delbarton, an excellent high school in New Jersey. He will have a home soon!

Mike Burton and his team have done an outstanding job with Bleeding Blue For Good, an organization raising NIL money for UConn. He is working non-stop, and I am not letting him go at alone. This is an important time for us, as we have a chance to join the Big 12 conference. We must come together and show the power UConn has, especially if we want to have continued success is sports. Please go to bleedingblueforgood.org and donate. If you can give $200 to $500 dollars it will make a huge difference and prove we can be dominant even in the NIL world.
Husky Talk has a guest who was so much fun to talk with, Hezekiah Faison Jr. A former UConn Football powerhouse who was part of the foundation of our success to move up to be a Division 1 FBS program.
Procyon Partners is a full-service Financial Planning company. They specialize in employee benefits, wealth management, and retirement planning. President Sean Rabinowitz provides his clients with exceptional results and is a proud supporter of Husky Talk.
Hezekiah is from the DMV, which is a hotbed of a football recruiting area. He went to legendary powerhouse DeMatha High School in Maryland, which is one of the best in the country. He played on teams with amazing talent and college recruiters would visit daily.
He decided on UConn because he felt he would have an opportunity to play early on and like everyone else, loved the family atmosphere. Not only with the football team, but with all the athletes. At 5'9 185 pounds, he was a tough, physical runner who always ran hard. Listen as he tells his story.
After graduation, Hez worked in software sales but found success in the IT field. Just recently, he took a job working with the Federal Government and there isn't a better job for health care, benefits, and retirement. Currently, he has a son who plays linebacker at Millersville, a strong division 2 college in Pennsylvania.
