Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy, Hagrid! Is it okay to tell our children stories that aren't true but pretend they are, to create a magical childhood experience? As an ex Jehovah's Witness, Stephen was raised without these stories so how did he approach this question as Celine's dad when she was a child? Dr Alexandra Stein, one of the leading experts on cults joins us today for a fascinating interview. She talks about her own experience within a cult, the application of attachment theory to cults and coercive relationships as well as discussing the physical effects of these damaging and toxic relationships. We also discuss the historic lack of research from a multi-generational (born-in) perspective and whether talk about the the 'cult self' versus the 'authentic self' is universally useful. Dr Stein was incredibly generous with her time and thoughtfully engaged with everything we asked.
