  • In the Psalms: Class 4

Our forth class from our In the Psalms class from our EVERLASTING HOPE: Summer Programme 2024!

In Psalms 86, Brett took us through the different relationships David had with God and how we can have the same today. He focused on how we must look to and reach out to a merciful compassionate God through prayer in our hopeless situations.

    EVERLASTING HOPE: Summer Programme 2024

    “Therefore, having

been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through
whom also we have access by faith into this grace in
which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And
not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing
    that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character;
and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because
the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was
    given to us.” (Romans 5:1-5)

“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me?

Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.” (Psalm 42:5)

It is our desire to see our Students grow in their

relationship with Jesus during and outside the Cultivate Discipleship
Programme! This summer our theme is Everlasting Hope, sourced from Romans 5:1-5
and Psalm 42:5. We will be focusing on how, as believers, it is vital to place
our hope in the sure, living, and everlasting God alone.

Hope is having a confident expectation of something

good. As believers, we often place our hope in all the wrong places:
experiences, relationships, possessions, dreams and aspirations. Over the
summer, we will look at how misplaced hope ends in disappointment and unmet
expectations, as all things suffer from a degree of brokenness and were not
created to be the source of our hope. We aim to explore how the pressure of
life builds in us a hope that will not be disappointed enabling us to encourage
our soul to hope in God; like the Psalmist did in Psalm 42. Believer, be assured of such hope as God has proved His
intention to complete His work in us.

It was our heart that our Students left the Summer

Programme with the assurance that they can place their hope in God, in all
seasons of life, being confident that our God will deliver and be
    faithful.

  • In the Psalms: Class 3

Our third class from our In the Psalms class from our EVERLASTING HOPE: Summer Programme 2024!

In Psalm 73, Josh took us through who the man Asaph was and his internal struggle of the “prosperous wicked.” We considered how focusing on seeking God and His presence brought about a change in perspective for Asaph and how this still holds true for us today.

Our Second class from our In the Psalms class from our EVERLASTING HOPE: Summer Programme 2024!
Joe shared about meditation in light of what the world thinks
about the subject. He opened the class with the major differences and concluded
by highlighting the fact that Biblical meditation should be another part of our
    relationship with God.

Our first class from our In

Jordan opened our In the Psalms class with an overview
to the authorship and themes of the five books that make up the book of the
Psalms. He highlighted how the focus of worship and the use of the names of God
changed over the five books leading to a natural shift from despair to praise
    over the 150 Psalms.

  • Fruit of the Spirit: Class 2

Our second class from our Fruit of the Spirit class from our FROM FAITH TO FRUIT: Summer Programme 2023! Joe teaches an overview on three study types (a word study, a topic study and a character study) to prepare our Students for their group study on the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-25.

FROM FAITH TO FRUIT: Summer Programme 2023

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” (Hebrews 11:1-3)

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:22-25)

Our faith is a result of the great hope that we have in Christ; faith gives shape and substance to something and makes something visible that is not seen. We explored the abiding faith illustrated in the lives of the men and women in Hebrews 11. With knowledge of the truth that “faith without works is dead” and “without faith it is impossible to please God”, we looked at the natural process whereby our abiding faith is evidenced in fruit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. It was our heart that our Students left the Summer Programme with a greater understanding that when their abiding faith is placed in our great God, they fulfil the law of Christ, producing in them spiritual fruit.
