So often, the milestones of old age sneaks up on us. Even as we gain the advantage of experience, there are less comfortable changes to confront, too. Our knees no longer support our favorite activity or we just can’t remember things the way we once could. We often see these losses as frustrating betrayals. Research shows, however, that cultivating compassion for aging–be it our aging selves or loved ones–leads to greater well-being and happiness. Taped before a live audience at the Princeton Senior Resource Center, Dr. Dan and his guests, Rabbi Dayle Friedman and Dr David Barile, discuss the benefits of compassion for ourselves and caretakers.
