A moment in time moves swiftly by us as we live our lives. Each of these moments store a snapshot of events, conversations, ideas, and people but immediately they become the past and the past only exists in our memories. What happens if we give that memory a voice? If these snapshots in time could talk to us today? Today on Culture Clique we get to hear the “Voices from the Past” as they talk about life in 1950s Winona

Few can remember a time without the internet. Many of you are listening to this at our website KQAL.org. However, the internet is a lot like an unexplored land with all of us exploring and creating foundations and colonies in the form of websites, chatrooms, and more. Much like unexplored lands you can come across several dangers in the ethereal world of the internet. On today’s culture clique we talk with Alison Fae and Leo Lamire about some of the many dangers and tips in navigating the virtual playground.

What is a cult? To many of us cults can be a point of mystery and confusion. One definition of a cult is a social group characterized by its unusual religious, spiritual, or philosophical beliefs and rituals. Today on culture clique we speak with a former cult member, Elizabeth Perry. Elizabeth shares the isolation, confusion, and struggles she experienced, her eventual separation from her family and the healing that came with the world that was hidden from her. I’m Jiovani Bermudez, join us as we learn about growing up in a cult of religious extremist through the eyes of someone who’s lived through it on today’s Culture Clique.

Vincent van Gogh once said, “I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of stars makes me dream,” and I would have to agree with van Gogh. The night sky is a treasure that we can all enjoy, as long as you can get out of the city lights, and today on Culture Clique Professor Jennifer Anderson tells us how we can do just that this weekend. Jennifer is leading an event called Astronomy in the Parks this Saturday evening in Merrick State Park near Fountain City, WI. The event kicks off at 7pm but feel free to come early as Jennifer has some fun facts and activities involving the sun as it sets as well!
I’m Bill Stoneberg, asking you to look up! as we talk stars and the night sky with Professor Jennifer Anderson, on Culture Clique.

Winona has a lot to offer in the way of unique experiences. There are many outdoor opportunities involving the bluffs & the river, a thriving arts & music scene, and festivals ranging from Shakespeare to Beethoven to bluegrass. But did you know that Winona has many options for health & wellness that might be considered outside of the norm for many people? There are practitioners in Winona that offer everything from herbal medicine, to acupuncture, to gong baths. That’s right, from plants, to needles, to gongs, oh my! Recently, there was a Healthcare fair showcasing some of the different options available here in Winona, so this month on Culture Clique we will be highlighting a few of those options in order to shed some light and hopefully answer some questions folks might be having about these unique offerings. Today, we hear from Dr. Ariel Barkheim, owner of Rooted Family Medicine. She talks about the importance of a balanced diet, her flower-essence tincture, and the different tools naturopath’s have in their toolbelt. So stay tuned, I’m Max Ackman, with Dr. Ariel Barkheim of Rooted Family Medicine, TODAY on Culture Clique.
