Today, David Fiorazo highlights some news stories, always looking at them from a biblical worldview. Segment 2 features Tuesday’s guest, Scott Schara, who has more details to share about his daughter, Grace, dying in the hospital recently.
What can we learn from this past year and how do we prepare for 2022 that will likely include more faith-testing and uncertainty?
From David: “We talked a few weeks ago about God being outside of time and the fact that His foreordained plan is being implemented in these prophetic days. Almighty God’s timing is perfect, His promises will be fulfilled, and He is sovereign.”
The prophet Daniel blessed the God of heaven and in Daniel 2:20-22 said:
“May the name of God be blessed forever and ever,
For wisdom and power belong to Him.
21 It is He who changes the times and seasons;He removes kings and appoints kings;
He gives wisdom to wise men,
And knowledge to people of understanding.
22 It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things;Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever – and He has not surrendered His throne. When the world around us is in darkness, chaos, and confusion, He is our stability, anchor, Cornerstone, and Rock.
No matter what we are faced with, believers have assurance and encouragement. We will not be shaken by the next bad news report, another virus, government overreach, a tanking economy, medical tyranny, cancel culture, or even persecution. Why? God’s got it all covered; past, present, and future.
Paul wrote to the Corinthian church encouraging them to trust in God who raises the dead, “who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us,” 2 Corinthians 1:10
UPDATED: Clarifications regarding DNR discussion with Scott Schara in segment 2:
At no time did we ask for our daughter Grace to be labeled DNR. We also did not agree to DNR status at any time.
- We never signed any statement regarding Grace being DNR, as required by law.
- On Grace’s last morning, the doctor encouraged us to approve a feeding tube because Grace was improving – why would anyone be considering DNR when she was doing so well?
- Grace was not wearing a DNR bracelet, as required by law.
- The first time we knew Grace was labeled DNR was when we were screaming for the nurses to do something and reverse the morphine given to Grace. Their response, “She’s DNR” was their excuse for not helping her. We screamed back, “She’s not DNR” and they did nothing. They stood outside her door instead.
- Per Jessica’s (Grace’s sister, her advocate in the room when Grace died) summary of events, written shortly after Grace died: “One nurse read off what the computer stated and that the doctor labeled her as a DNR which they claimed they couldn’t do anything about.”
