David came from a strong line of faithful people. He learned the importance of staying. His life was a training ground for the calling God was placing on his life - to become the King of Israel. David was trained as a warrior-shepherd. It was his willingness to stay, even when there was a predator, and face the predator head  on. He trusted God's presence with him.
