  • MILLION POINTS OF VIEW

    MILLION POINTS OF VIEW

    DAVE THE POET

    As I look around

    It seems to be
    We’ve got only two types
    There is me and you
    How’d we wind up
With a million points of view

    To be right

    Someone must be wrong
    Everybody’s weak
    Except for the strong
    Is the truth always true
In a world full of lies
Turn back the hands of time
    Who will heal the planet
    When Mother Nature gets sick
    She doesn’t have disability
    Keeping her healthy
Is up to me and you
    Not so simple
With a million points of view

    Some work really hard

    Destroying great ideas
    If we can’t come together
    It will be gone
    Sooner or later
We will all go the way
    Of the dinosaur

  • LOOKING

    LOOKING

    DAVE THE POET

I heard, They were looking for me

    Remember, When it happened
Was where, I thought I should be
    Someone, Told the story
    I, Was guilty
    Already judged
I heard, They were looking for me

    We are all, Someone else

    In another dream
    A new beginning
Have the time, Of your life
    Game, Gets broken
    World, Rains down for free
Live, By the skin of your teeth
    The class system
    Rules, The global economy
    Remember, When it happened
I heard, They were looking for me

    The target, Is chosen

    A system, Is born
    Everybody pays
    The lash, Is strong
    To deter, The weak
    They build, Bigger walls
    The blender, Of life
    Loves weak and strong
    The second, You think
    You know, Who you are
It’s time, For a new identity
Taught from birth, To be guilty
    When power, Asks your name
They know who, They raised you to be
    Someone, Said something
I heard, They were looking for me

  • INDIANS OF WALL STREET

    INDIANS OF WALL STREET

    DAVE THE POET

Has your world, Been torn apart

    Broken promises, Shattered hearts
Bush and Cheney, Got laid off
Instead of showering, With Bernie Madoff
They take more, Than they can eat
Now we are, The Indians of Wall Street

    Need, To see the wizard

    Step back in line
    Jack Abramoff, Greased the wheels
    To pay, For borrowed time
    Make your contribution
    Grover Norquist, Is doing fine

    Right, Left, Middle

    Tow the party line
    You and I are equal
Your vote, Is as useless as mine

    Toil, For taxes

    Feed, The machine
    Greed, Elects power
    The American dream
    As the gap, Gets bigger
    Between, Us and them
    In filth, We will drown
    While in wealth, They live

  • MISTER DESTINY

    MISTER DESTINY

    DAVE THE POET

There is a beauty in a sunrise, That can’t compare to you

There is wisdom in your silence, Since all your words are true
Your life is full of passion, It’s in every breath you take
You’re everything I ever wanted, A partner with whom I’m free
I’ll love you forever and always, Your Mister Destiny

I’ll bring you breakfast in the morning, Flowers in the afternoon

Cook romantic dinners, Tango under the moon
Look into your eyes, Tell you everything I see
I’ll love you forever and always, Your Mister Destiny

Many years have passed, Still your hand I hold

Luckiest man to ever fall in love, So I’ve been told
Thanks for all the pieces of you, Freely given to me
You made me a better person, My world a better place
Heaven’s Angels, All have your face
Thank you for being there, Understanding me
I’ll love you forever and always, Your Mister Destiny

  • PARLAY

    PARLAY

    DAVE THE POET

The kind of love we got, Nobody gets

They were not there, When we first met
One walks away, The other comes and gets
    Troubled times, No regrets
The long shot, Picked the favorite
    Parlayed, To win the bet

When I first saw you, It was love at first sight

If only we could meet, Days would never turn to night
You got in a boat, Headed out to sea
Just about sunset, You sailed back home to me
Sweet summer sundress, Feet in the sand
    Jackie O glasses, Hollywood tan
You looked like a million, Sipping ice tea
No man alive, Could resist your beauty
All day long, We make love all night
    Passions, Lives and breathes
In the heartbeat of a man and wife

Drunk with love, Sober on lust

‘Til death do us part, In God we trust
    When you’re wrong, Doesn’t mean I’m right
Sacrifice is the glue, That bonds married life
Will our kids, Take after you or me
Expect every branch to be different, On the family tree
As my bones start to creak, I feel my age
    College, Weddings, Grand-kids
    Quickly, Life turns the page
Every dream I had, Was always within reach
‘Cause I fell in love with you
    On that sunny, Sandy beach
The kind of love we got, Nobody gets
The long shot, Picked the favorite
    Parlayed, To win the bet

  • ROYALTY

    ROYALTY

    DAVE THE POET

While, The rest of the world survives

    People born to privilege thrive
Who was born, With the silver spoon
Daddy’s father, Was an air tycoon
I change your oil, The filter upgrade is free
How does it feel, To be royalty

Since 99 percent, Of the world is average

Few get to ride, In the horse and carriage
I have no place to live, Because my rent ain’t free
My kids are starving, Living on the streets
No address, No school, The perks of poverty
With nothing to lose, At least tears are free
In my kingdom at night, The rats become royalty
They dance and sing, Have a grand ol ‘time
We both know, Their life, Is better than mine

A man, Kisses his family goodbye

His last meal, Peach cobbler and bar-b-que
Moments from dying, For a crime he didn’t do
    Although the system prevailed
    The scales of justice failed
    Electrocution, Old school style
Time to shuffle, The death row mile
Power pardons itself, And rarely appeals
The silent breath of slavery, Becomes hurricane real

They cover his eyes, So no one can see

Justice is blind, For you and me
Pulling the switch, That sets him free
Smoke rising, From his haloed head
Mind, Body and Soul, Pronounced dead
A soldier’s soul, Fights to be free
Sacrificed like virgins, To the lions of royalty

  • QUESTIONS

    QUESTIONS

    DAVE THE POET

Can I give you a kiss, On the cheek

    Innocent enough
I find it hard to breathe
    Never mind speak
    I know we just met
    Please
Can I give you a kiss, On the cheek

    Would you dance with me

    The jukebox just came on
    It’s playing, My favorite song
It’s so rare, Pure magic comes along
    If I didn’t ask
    I’d forever live in fear
That the woman of my dreams
    I would never hold near
    It’s a simple love song
    Nothing fancy
    But I was wondering
    Would you dance with me

Would you like to take a walk

    Just hold hands
    Waves keep on crashing
    Leaving shells in the sand
    I’m here for the summer
    How about you
    If we time it right
    At sunset
We can bathe, In the light of the moon
My heart is true, I’m a simple man
Would you like to take a walk
    Just hold hands

    V.I.P.’S

    DAVE THE POET

    We are the V.I.P.’s

    Welcome to the cage
    Built just for us
To lock out, All you slaves
Get used, To sleeping in the parks
Live like dog’s, As we ignore your barks
We control what you Eat, See, Drink, Breathe and Believe

Go with the flow, You’ll get by

    Enough education, To super-size french-fries
Healthcare is something, You don’t need
There are already too many, Of you to feed
We let you breed, To fight our wars
Flock like rats, To our superstores
New World Order, On a global scale
    Martial law sirens wail
    The free and the brave
All wrapped up, In government chains

The rights you hold, In such high esteem

    Are chaperoned, By corporate greed
    We have everything, We need
While you survive, On reality TV
    Power junkies, Lick their lips
    As you’re euthanized, With politics
Vote for us, Cause it’s your right

  • REVOLUTION

    REVOLUTION

    DAVE THE POET

Who is it, Knocking at my door

The savior, With a helping hand
Or the reaper, Who wants more
    When it’s all gone
    Nothing left to give
    They call it anarchy
    Cells with zip codes
    Is where we’ll live
    Sleeping bag and a tent
    Everything saved, Already spent
A mirror image, Of a bad dream
Revolution awakes, And fills the streets

Change the channel, Find a war

A few get rich, Lots more, Dead and poor
People go hungry, While bombs explode
Folded flags, Fade in the shadows
    Of white marble cross tombstones
Power and greed, Claim all restitution
As the streets fill, With revolution

    Everybody, Who uses their voice

    Has the right, To vote
    Freedom of choice
Empires implode, In a blaze of glory
The meek inherit debt, Same old story
    History, Always repeats itself
    Question, Governments and media
Unchecked, They spew hate, Call it a solution
You’re a peaceful fortress, An army of love

    WELCOME TO THE REVOLUTION!!!!!

    • ROUND TABLE KNIGHT

      ROUND TABLE KNIGHT

      DAVE THE POET

A sweat slick steed, Hits its stride

Until its last breath, On a lover’s ride
By the moonlight, Locked as one
More passion and heat, Than the coming sun
Silent and wet, A salty dream
      Sight unseen
      A Round Table Knight
      Will rescue his Queen

The face that launched, A thousand ships

      Needed only love, To exist
      Does blood shed
      Fill a lonely bed
      In rapture and forgiveness
      Hearts and love live free
      Sight unseen
      A Round Table Knight
      Will rescue his Queen

Where is it, You won’t go

      To find the one
      Who completes your soul
      What would you do
      To be one of two
It’s all about time and space
A musky silhouette, A familiar face
      The most beautiful place
      You’ve ever been
      Sight unseen
      A Round Table Knight
      Will rescue his Queen
