These so-called “stem cell therapies” or “regenerative therapies” currently being marketed direct-to-consumers have insufficient evidence of safety and efficacy to justify their use and pose a potential risk to recipients. A recent paper from Masters, Mathews and Abou-el-Enein published in Stem Cell Reports discusses this global public health problem.
