This isn't necessary discussion because we live in an age where we romanticize the enlightenment and we demonize it's opponents. I have often said that I would rather the Spanish Inquisition over the French Revolt or the Russian revolt and the government's that float from them. America is known for the statement of Give me liberty or give me death, and it is clear after 250 years vet much of the West has chosen the latter.
