  • Praying the Scriptures

Do you want to know effective prayers to pray over yourself and your family? Do you feel as if knowing how to pray the will of God is not always easy? Then join us below as we explore how to use Scripture to pray God’s will and blessings over ourselves and families!

    Prayer:

Throughout the Word of God we are commanded to pray. Even Jesus—God Incarnate—prayed throughout His life! We were made to fellowship with God in prayer, not only to improve our relationship with Him, but so that His will might be done in our lives, causing His blessings and favor to flow. We are created to fulfill Kingdom purpose, but to do that we need to be in alignment with God. We need to be in constant prayer and fellowship with Him.

It does not matter if we are in times of trouble or times of Godly favor, prayer is always essential. Yet, there are times when it feels as if our ability to pray is challenged, when we do not know what to pray, or even, when our prayers feel ineffective. One way to help combat these is to speak in our prayer language—tongues—allowing the Holy Spirit to declare the perfect will of God through us. Another is to ask God to teach us what to pray. While still another is to speak out in prayer and faith the Scriptures—which are God’s perfect will, as Jesus, the Word made flesh, is testimony to.

It is this option of speaking out the Scriptures we will explore today…

  • Truth is Essential

What makes a lie so effective that people believe it? Why does truth matter in this hour more than in any before? Why do we need to be mindful of what we speak, watch, and listen to? Join us below as we answer these and other questions about the importance of truth in this hour!

    Hiding a Lie:

There are times in all our lives where we believe lies. Sometimes it is due to ignorance of the lie itself. Other times it is because we desperately want the lie to be true. Perhaps at times we even fail to care, because the lie is so small, or seemingly unimportant, that we do not see the point in challenging it. The damage it could do…

Still, what makes a ‘good’ lie? What causes us to believe lies? And how can we as Believers spot the lies of the enemy so we can prosper in God’s Kingdom?

Well, the ‘best’ lies are commonly those which can be hidden in plain sight. So wrapped in a layer of truth that they blend in or pretend to be something they are not.

Yes, lies that people WANT to believe are perhaps just as effective, but even those benefit from a layer of truth; after all, not every single person will want to believe it. Ignorance to the existence of a lie is often key, particularly if the enemy plans to spread the lie.

One way to show the effectiveness of hiding a lie amongst truth, is to imagine a large, beautiful garden. In this garden are thousands of all kinds of plants; flowering, fruiting, leafy, and coming in all shapes and colors. In the midst of the garden is one lone weed. Yet, it is not just any weed. It is beautiful, despite being a hindrance to the plants around it, and of all the people who go into the garden, very few even notice it. It is not common enough like a dandelion to be recognized by those who are not professional horticulturists. In fact, the weed is so well placed, that even if ten horticulturists were to enter the garden, only two might find it…

There is the weed, right in the middle of this beautiful garden, and even those who have the knowledge to know of its presence can easily overlook it. Can you imagine then, if thousands of people walked through this garden in one day, how few might notice it? Particularly when you consider that such a beautiful garden is not merely going to attract horticulturists. In fact, chances are only a small percentage of those who visit the garden will have that kind of background. Further, if only 20% of those with the skill set to recognize the weed even notice it, then in all likelihood would the weed not stay, with thousands of people left unaware!?

And would those who saw it even bother to tell those who are tending the garden? To speak forth what they saw? Would they speak the truth when it is only a single weed?

  • Blessing Israel - What is Missing in Ministry…
I Was Told, “Bless Israel,” but Didn’t Know Why…

As a boy, my granny who raised me often said to “Bless Israel” (Genesis 12:3; Numbers 24:9). I never quite understood why she would say that, but my granny was the godliest person in my life ever, so I would never forget these words!

I Started Putting the Pieces Together…

After becoming a Pastor, it was years later while attending a conference in Chattanooga, TN where Rabbi Curt Landry was a guest speaker, where those words would be heard once again in my spirit.

It was the midst of Rabbi Landry’s revelatory word when I heard my granny’s words… “Bless Israel!”

    I Had a Decision to Make…

Following the message, the altar was full. I stood, very thoughtful and prayerful as to what I would do and how I would proceed with this new revelation.

I knew that something needed to change, not only in my own personal life, but also in my ministry within the church—my preaching and my teaching.

    I Asked a Life-Changing Question…

Looking up, I noticed no one was around Rabbi, so I approached him. I simply walked up, stood beside him and said, “My granny always told me to ‘Bless Israel,’ but I never understood. What can I do?”

  • Biblical Covenant Relationship

    by Pastor Wes Mosteller

Have you noticed that people, even in Christian circles, are in a relationship only for what they may receive from them? I have discovered that some people abandon relationships when it looks as though it will cost them something.

A Refusal to Abandon Biblical Covenant Relationship | Naomi and Ruth

In the Bible, Ruth—who refused to abandon her relationship with her mother-in-law—and Naomi understood biblical covenant. Both women saw extremely difficult days and their relationship endured.

    Covenant Relationship Overcomes Hardship

Naomi, along with her husband and their sons, fled their land of Judah because of the great famine. They settled in Moab.

While in Moab, Naomi’s husband died. Her two sons married Moabite women, Ruth and Orpah. Then, another hardship pressed into Naomi’s life. Would you believe that her sons died while in Moab as well?

By this time, Naomi was advanced in age. She decided to make the trip back to Judah because there was no one left to care for her in Moab. Before Naomi began her journey home, she told her daughters-in-law to return each to their mother’s house.

All of the women are weeping and in great distress. Again, Naomi told the women to return to their own families. Orpah kissed her mother-in-law and left. However, Ruth clung to her (Ruth 1:14).

  • The Faith of Peter

Do you feel like you struggle to put action to your desire to serve God? Do you find yourself with faith in who God is, but little faith in your ability to serve Him? Then join us below as we follow Peter, a man who had great faith, but also had to overcome his fears!

    The Disciple, Peter

We all remember Peter. He was the one who stepped out of the boat, but then quickly succumbed to the waves. He promised Jesus that he would never deny Him, but then denied Him three times. Yet, he was also the one to whom Jesus said, “on this rock I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18).

Peter may have had flaws, as do we all, but he was also chosen by God. One reason he was chosen was because of his faith—his earnest desire to serve God even if it would take Holy Spirit fire before he would possess the courage to match.

Yes. Peter sank into the waves, but we should also remember that he was the only disciple who got out of the boat! In many ways Peter had the faith and heart needed, but he lacked the focus, experience… the deeper faith and spiritual revelation that would take him those final steps. But Peter DID get out. He took the first step, and Jesus did not let him fail… Jesus saved Peter when he had the courage to take that first step.

Yes, Peter eventually denied Jesus three times, but Jesus restored him three times.

Yes, Peter may have been flawed, but God does not choose the qualified, He chooses those who have something within—something in their hearts—and then HE, not anyone or anything else, qualifies them. It is through qualifying the unqualified that God shows His power. Yet, more than that, it is how He shows His love, mercy, and great wisdom!

    Man of Faith

So, who was Peter? What was it about Peter that caused Jesus to say to him, “follow me” (Matthew 4:19)?

  • YOUR Words Matter

Have you ever wondered what we as Believers are meant to speak? Do you desire to know what benefits there are to speak like Jesus did? Then join us below as we discover the power of speech, and how the words you speak can bring blessing or cursing to you and those around you!

    YOUR Words Matter

Most of us realize to a certain extent that words matter, yet few of us truly understand their power. We say we hate something when we merely dislike it. We call something ugly when it simply is not quite to our liking. We say how some sickness or disease runs in our family, as if God cannot remove it… choosing to speak death instead of life.

These words may appear to be of little importance when spoken. A joking tone may make the sting of many words feel lighter, or perhaps we say something so often—or those around us do—that we hardly take notice. Yet, the Word of God says that we will be held accountable for every idle word. Jesus Himself said this, so why do we not realize the kind of words we speak. Why do we not take notice of the things we say and seek God’s help to retrain our minds, hearts, and of course, our words?

“…out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”—Matthew 12:34-37

Words matter, and as children of the Most High God, we ought to be intentional with what we speak. We ought to speak more of the things of God; more of His very Word.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”—Proverbs 18:21

Even as we begin to understand that words have power, it can still be hard for us to realize that OUR words hold power. We may be mere flesh and blood beings, who, without God, are nothing, but through God we have been given the power of speech. We have been granted the honor of speaking like Him, and as a result, even a toddler just learning to speak, can change their atmosphere.

YOU can change your atmosphere for the better by speaking life!

  • Honor Your Father

Is Father’s Day biblical? What is the benefit to honoring our earthly fathers in addition to our Heavenly Father? Does honor really come with a promise? Join us below as we discover the answers to these and other questions about Father’s Day and honoring our fathers!

    Honor:

Before we can begin to understand what Father’s Day has the potential to mean, we should first explore the word, honor.

Honor is a force. It is written that we are to honor our God, honor our parents, honor our elders, honor our leaders, etc. We are to walk in honor, but do we?

Honor is found approximately 179 times in the NKJV of the Word, literally from Genesis to Revelation! It is a Kingdom principle, one which Jesus Himself followed during His time on earth—from doing and speaking nothing unless His Father in Heaven did or said it first, to even seeing to it as He hung upon the cross that His earthly mother was to be taken care of…

“When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, ‘Woman, behold your son!’ Then He said to the disciple, ‘Behold your mother!’ And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.”–John 19:26-27

Honor is not always convenient, but it is always fruitful, because it is in line with who God is. It is tied in to the greatest commandment of all, love, for in many ways honor flows from love. Yet, it is also tied to a servant’s heart—not forgetting that we are children of God, but doing as Yeshua, the King of all did—allowing us to walk in honor.

Honor confirms value already placed within people by God, because it takes a truth found in God and sets it to action. And by setting God’s truth to action, we open doors of blessing not only to those we honor, but through our action, we open the doors of blessing to ourselves.

“to regard or treat (someone) with admiration and respect : to regard or treat with honor

“to give special recognition to : to confer honor on” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

  • Healing a Fatherless Generation

“You’re a worthless $*#&$#Q^ and will never amount to anything!”

Those are the words constantly hurled at me as a child—the result of a one-night stand, born to a single woman who eventually married an alcoholic and abusive husband.

    The Abuse

As traumatic as the physical beatings from my stepfather were, they were not nearly as painful as the wounds those words inflicted on my soul. If you hear something often enough, you eventually begin to believe it might be true.

    The Aftermath

The aftermath left me starving for affirmation and approval. This starvation often leads us to destructive and unhealthy choices to find the fulfillment we desperately crave, only to discover it leads to further heartache and disappointment.

    The Cycle

That is the devastating cycle so many get trapped in as a product of this “fatherless generation.”

I’ve shared my story in dozens of schools, military bases, prisons, and churches around the country, staring into the eyes of men who reflect that same hunger and ache in their own heart.

I agree with the sociologists who report that fatherlessness is the most devastating social ills of our lifetime.

But I also know that there is an alternative to…
