No one ever wants to hear the words, you have cancer.
What started out as the scariest day of life for my sister, Tami, ended up bringing her some of life's greatest gifts - strength, love, and purpose. Listen to this amazing woman's story as she shares some vulnerable pieces of her soul, as well as some incredible insights for anyone facing or helping someone they love face tough challenges. Warning: You may shed a few tears (of sadness and joy) while listening (I sure did!), and come out of this conversation with a healthier perspective on life.
I interviewed her for this episode a few years back, but her story still gives me chills and hope. She's a survivor and doing amazing these days. She became a grandmother to Athena Lynn in November 2020. Yes, life is great!
A glimpse into her story: https://youtu.be/Thla97AjBrs
In this episode, I share 3 qualities that makes a person a great communicator and able to converse with anyone. If you’re the type of person who struggles with striking a conversation with someone who has a different approach to communication than you, tune in!

I always think the worst place I could ever find myself in life is stuck. Stuck in a situation that feels hopeless, boring, dreadful, or anything that is opposite of what I crave. What do I crave? Experiences that are dynamic, free-flowing, full of learning opportunities, and ways to contribute to others.
I suppose that’s why starting a new journey for me has never been a difficult thing.
If you struggle with taking that first step toward something new, tune in! We'll explore ways to make it easier.
PS - Have Story to Share?

Whether you’re a person who can walk into a room and feel as comfortable as you would walking into your own home at the end of a long work day or you’re someone completely opposite who would much prefer skip a happy hour or baby shower or some other party where everyone else seems to be happy go lucky, you may find some value in this episode. You see if you’re the outgoing type, it might be helpful for you to understand how the other half of society feels when they enter a room full of people they don’t know.
You are the only person in this world who is you. That makes you unique and one-of-a-kind. There is no other person who can be you. And you deserve to be happy, to be loved, and to be appreciated. It is perfectly okay to love yourself. In fact, loving yourself is one of the most important things you can do. Self-love is about getting in touch with ourselves, our well-being and our happiness. As it spreads, we blanket the world in a layer of peace and harmony. It’s life-affirming and only creates a ripple of positivity. When you practice self love, you give yourself the opportunity to push through challenges, limiting beliefs, and strife so you can enter a realm of life that truly shines.
To get started on rediscovering your love for yourself, tune in to learn of some things you can do right now.

Rocking the boat is important because when you do, you engage conflict. Most of us automatically think conflict is a bad thing. Conflict, specifically, healthy conflict, provides an opportunity for growth. It can excite a new way of viewing the world and empower relationships.

In this episode, I bring up something that happened in my past that defined me in a good way. The path getting there was really uncomfortable, bit I gained a healthy rush from it.
I remember the first time I choked publicly. I was in high school. In fact, I was the new kid in town, starting over in eleventh grade in a new school. As if high school wasn’t hard enough on a kid, toss in the insecurity of having no friends, no alliances, nothing to keep yourself grounded.
So there I was an awkward teenager, with eighties hair and nerves about as strong as tumbleweed, sitting in the front row of my English classroom in a panic. Why was I in panic? Because it was the first week of school, not a soul spoke to me, and I sat alone, perched at the front of the class, pretty much a beacon for being called upon by a teacher. Why did that freak me out? I have no idea. It never did before I entered that lonely high school classroom. In my former school, I had friends, I was a majorette, I was on the cross country team, and I knew everyone. Here, I was treated like an outsider and the stakes were high for me because I wanted to belong. I wanted them to want to be my friend. I wanted to be accepted and comfortable again.
But the universe is funny when you seek comfort. It likes to screw with us, doesn’t it? Hahaha It likes to toss us into uncomfortable situations and see how long we can survive before we can thrive.
Tune in to find out how I got past this and ways you can get past challenges, too.

I listened to a podcast the other day and the podcaster said something that completely resonated. “When we compare, we stop performing our best because we are following instead of doing our own thing.”
I do believe that comparisons can be helpful if you do so with the intention to grow and learn from them.
But most of us, when we compare, we are often doing so from a viewpoint of lack and if I’m being honest, envy. Of course, this doesn’t serve us. We know it’s a dangerous game to compare ourselves because it brings about feelings of inadequacy and can seriously stunt our growth. Yet, many of us still do it.
Tune in to find out why we do this and how we can stop through a simple change in perspective.

Do you ever feel like you could fall asleep during the day while you're working, driving, basically doing the ordinary things that people do on a daily basis? Maybe as you sit at your desk and attempt to focus on the task at hand you struggle to keep your eyes open? Perhaps your mind starts to fog over and all you want to do is place your head down and take a nap. A clue that you might be too tired to function effectively is if you’ve ever found yourself driving home and not remembering how you got there.
How do you summons the energy you need to pursue the things in life that you deserve?
