  • My Thoughts Monday #140- Self Auditing Your KPI’s To Improve Your Programming
“We need to be able to have measurements that are going to indicate that we are improving the athlete in some way that will impact their performance.”

This My Thoughts Monday is brought to you by Vald Performance, the team behind the NordBord, ForceDecks, the GroinBar and HumanTrak. With all their products providing evidence-based solutions to performance professionals so they can get the right information, for the right decision, at the right time. Make sure to go check out all their great products at: www.valdperformance.com

This weeks My Thoughts Monday is a review of a huge take-a-way from Stephanie Mock’s awesome presentation from FREE-VASPS. Stephanie shared with us their entire return to sport progression, including how they’re going to train there athletes when they return, but the primary take away for me was her evaluations and how she discussed our role in developing objective KPI’s. The idea of KPI’s and tracking has been a bit of a hot button of late, and are things that we all should have been implementing for some time now. In this My Thoughts Monday, I share how this layoff period has been super helping in allowing us to have a great opportunity to look at what we are evaluating, address deeper how it will impact programming, how we can better share information, and so on.

In the wake of the death of George Floyd I asked three of the student athletes that I get to work with every day to share their thoughts on the situation. University of Richmond Men’s Basketball players Nathan Cayo, Nick Sherod, and Jacob Gilyard join me to discuss Black Lives Matter, where they see some common misconceptions and mistakes by people, and how we can all be better, together.

  • My Thoughts Monday #139- Get Back To The Basics and Be Savage With Them
“Can we get savagely good at the things we can do that are simple to build upon?”

“Let’s take a big step back where we are right now and do what we say we are worried about, and the is, address the fact that they haven’t been training and completely rebuild them foundation-ally and technically and make them savage lifters again.”

This My Thoughts Monday is brought to you by Vald Performance, the team behind the NordBord, ForceDecks, the GroinBar and HumanTrak. In this weeks My Thoughts Monday I share some take aways from Cam Davidson’s talk from FREE-VASPS. Cam shared with us the ins and outs of how he plans to work with his volleyball athletes week 1 when they return to Penn State, and that plan is to get back to the basics, keep programming savagely simple, and get really good at lifting again. This is some advice that I think all of us could use when we look at our programming going forward upon return to campus.
