The Health-Tech Corridor is a public-private partnership in Cleveland supporting the high-tech and health-tech industries on the city's east side. Spanning from University Circle to Cleveland State’s campus, the area is full of companies and entrepreneurs with CWRU connections. Snyder. Mandel took 74 years to complete his undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University— after pausing his education to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II and build a global enterprise with his brothers. An emeritus trustee of the university, Mandel’s lifelong passion for acquiring and sharing knowledge continues to inspire.

Our first guest, Christine DeSalvo (CWR '96), is the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission and the Alumni Admission Ambassador Coordinator at CWRU. Our next guest, David Wexler (WRC '80) discusses how volunteering in this program has made an impact in his life and his children's life. Next, Robert Ontko (CWR '11) discusses his fondest memory of the program and why he became involved. Finally, Chamois Williams, the Assistant Director of Alumni Outreach and Affinity Programs at CWRU, discusses all of the volunteer opportunities available to students and alumni.

July's podcast features CWRU alumni who are making their mark as entrepreneurs. Chris Wentz (CWR ‘13), CEO of Everykey, Inc., established his start-up while he was still a student. Gordon Daily (CWR ‘01, GRS ‘01, computer engineering), president and co-founder of BoxCast, is focused on changing the way we communicate through live HD streaming video. Toby Maloney (GRS ‘73, English), a current investor and advisor for BoxCast, is a longtime angel investor and advisor, best known for developing mental-floss from a dorm room idea to multi-million dollar media company. Additionally,  Jason Cellura (CWR ‘07), a former CWRU football player, is looking to score big in the athletic wear market as founder of AMMO Athletic. Tony Briggs (MGT ‘14) and Seamus Malley (MGT ‘11) utilize their skills and experience to take the varied companies they acquire or operate to the next level. Their portfolio includes Radiant Electric Heat, SolarFlo Corporation and Portage Notebooks.

June's podcast features outstanding students in the graduating class of 2016. We spoke to Alexis Attinoto, who is an undergraduate nursing major. She is also earning a global health certificate and did her capstone in Galway, Ireland. She received the Intersections Award (first place) in the SOURCE Symposium for her project. We also spoke with Rachel Broderick, who is graduating with her Masters of Nursing. She is the nursing Co-Director of the Student Run Free Clinic 2015-2016. We spoke with Felipe Gómez del Campo, who is an undergraduate Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering student and the CEO of FGC Plasma Solutions, LLC. We spoke with Anton Spencer who is an undergraduate music and biomedical engineering major. In addition, we spoke with Sarah Eadon who is an MSSA candidate who did her field placement at the Cleveland VA and will be going into the military after graduation. She is also co-director of the Student-Run Free Clinic 2014-2016 and is a Mandel Scholar. She has done presentations at national conferences for the Society for Teachers of Family Medicine and the Society for Student Run Free Clinics.

May's podcast is in honor of National Nurses Week and focuses in on Caregiving from Afar. Our special guest for this podcast is Sara Douglas, PhD, RN, who is the Arline H. & Curtis F. Garvin Professor and Assistant Dean for Research at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at CWRU. She has conducted a lot of research on caregiving from afar and is personally a long-distance caregiver. Career Connections (https://students.case.edu/career/alumni/volunteer/) is an opportunity for Freshman and Sophomore year students to shadow an alumnus in the student's academic and geographical location of interest. This popular program has over 100 students express interest for 50 available spots and has been recognized by Student Affairs with a Positive Impact Award in 2014-15. With support from The Alumni Association of CWRU, the last six years has seen over 300 students shadow Zoologists, Attorneys, Judges, Physicians, Researchers, Genetic Counselors, Consultants, Investment Bankers, Accountants, Entrepreneurs and Nurses. From Florida to California to New York City, this opportunity serves to promote retention at CWRU and help students envision their future and commit to academic success to achieve their goals.

In its 40 year history the world renowned Cleveland International Film Festival has had three executive directors---all Case Western Reserve University alumni!
