This week, Lucien, Emily and Kieren are joined by Michele Neylon, CEO of Blacknight as they discuss the latest developments in the internet governance space. They discuss Michele's upbringing, Gregg Wallace's use of Instagram for his response to his recent scandal, and the latest edition to the Oxford English Dictionary. It's all happening this week - on The Internet, Seriously.
LUCIEN IS MAD on this episode of The Internet, Seriously and no single person or company is safe...
This week on The Internet, Seriously, chaos takes center stage as major players in tech and governance seem to fumble and stumble yet again. China's latest hack exposes vulnerabilities in US surveillance systems, raising alarms about global cybersecurity (and who's really watching whom). Meanwhile, a bizarre Yakuza data leak leaves the internet scratching its collective head, as Mafia and Google Docs don’t usually mix.
The team are across the pond in this remote episode of The Internet, Seriously. Lucien and Emily are gunning for presidency as they camp outside the Washington Monument (I jest, I jest). In all seriousness, the two are busy attending multiple anti-scam meetings and summits, working with Google, Meta and even YouTuber Kitboga?! Meanwhile, Kieren has stayed on home turf, pondering whether he should jump ship to Bluesky or if he will die on the hill of Xwitter, as Trump awards Musk with a top job in the government. It's all happening this week, hope you enjoy!
Ghosts that we thought once dead, often come back to haunt us... (some philosopher at some point in time, probably). As the US presidential campaign comes to a close, Lucien, Emily and Kieren race back to the studio to give their thoughts on what round two of Trump control will mean for the tech industry. They also discuss the implications this will have on China and the UK...
Then, to top it all off, Lucien and Emily are heading off to Washington next week to join Google and the Global Anti Scam Alliance to discuss the launch of the Global Signal Exchange; Lucien joyfully explains their five point plan that will help stop scams.
Four on the floor this week on The Internet, Seriously as there are not three but FOUR people in the studio this time! Everyone is over the moon, most of them reeling from last night's halloween festivities but never mind - there's internet news to discuss. Lucien is delighted that there has been a new Labour budget, Emily interviews insurance head honcho Heidi McCormack on how she uses the internet for her business and Kieren discusses his new favourite topic: OpenAI initiating the battleground for the latest and greatest search engine. It's all happening this week, grab your favourite mug of tea and settle in for the ride.
It's all getting a bit spooky in here this week on The Internet, Seriously. Lucien, Emily and Kieren talk about the recent squabble between Trump and Starma on everyone's favourite media platform - LinkedIn. Meta are also set to bring in Face recognition to their platforms courtesy of the UK Gov. Keep your wits about you this episode, it's not for the faint of heart....

Topics discussed in this episode are some that viewers may find disturbing
This week on The Internet, Seriously, the team went live yesterday (17th October 2024) to mark a world first - NIS2 DAY (Lucien: Blimey - what's that all about...). They bring back Joanna Grant of the DNSRF to explain to us Laypeople what or who a NIS2 could possibly be about.
Once we've covered that, they move on to discuss further headlines like Elon's blocking bonanza and England's Colonial Compromises...
This week on The Internet, Seriously, the team are joined by Jenny Partridge: an innovation manager at The Health Innovation Network, where she discusses innovation in primary care and women's health. AI gets another grilling this week as Jenny talks about regulation of AI in healthcare - does it fix everything, or just do more damage?
As well as this, Jenny gives her Internet Guilty pleasure and what one thing she wants to throw into the Internet Room 101 forever...
