Cybersecurity is not a new phenomenon, but over the last year the vulnerability of school districts to cyberattacks has grown exponentially. The rapid acceleration of the use of technology during the pandemic brought many new technology opportunities to K-12 education. However, along with progress came serious challenges. One of the most alarming trends has been the rise in cyberattacks on school district networks. The result is not only disruptions in teaching and learning and school operations, but also damaging exposure of school personnel data and student data.

Today, more than ever, school district leaders must know how to take appropriate actions to be sufficiently aggressive in getting ahead of cybersecurity threats and also know how to respond when their school network systems are impacted by a cyberattack.

In this edWeb podcast, three school district superintendents share their knowledge and experiences in leading cybersecurity awareness in their school systems. Strategies for preventing cyberattacks and recommendations for responding effectively when they do occur are reviewed.

This edWeb podcast is of particular value to superintendents, K-12 school and district leaders, and aspiring school leaders.
