Rather than establish a traditional booth, the company introduced the "CISO Genie," a private concierge designed to help security leaders attending the conference. The initiative has since become the focus of two videos shared on LinkedIn by Hagai Shapira, Co-Founder and CEO of Daylight, generating significant engagement while bringing a distinctly lighter tone to the company's Black Hat presence.

  • Virus Protection for Phone: Why Modern Smartphones Need More Than Antivirus

Traditional antivirus alone is no longer enough. Modern mobile threats often bypass signature-based detection using spyware, banking trojans, phishing, and zero-click techniques.
Behavioral detection is becoming the new standard. Monitoring application behavior, permissions and system anomalies helps identify threats that conventional antivirus solutions may miss.
Security extends beyond the device. Protecting communications, cloud infrastructure and authentication mechanisms is just as important as detecting malware.
Layered protection is essential. Effective virus protection for phone combines antivirus, anti-spyware technologies, secure communications and continuous monitoring into a single security strategy.
The future of mobile security is proactive, not reactive. The most effective solutions stop attacks by recognizing suspicious behavior before sensitive data is compromised.

  • When PowerShell Said "Failed," tcpdump Said Why

This story was originally published on HackerNoon at: https://hackernoon.com/when-powershell-said-failed-tcpdump-said-why.

A failed PowerShell download, a missing packet, and the tcpdump commands that proved where the connection really died — host firewall, not the attacker.

A malicious PowerShell script on a compromised app server tried to download a second-stage payload and failed — but the error message couldn't say whether the attacker's server refused it, a firewall blocked it, or it never left the host. Four tcpdump commands settled it: the request never reached the network at all. This piece walks through the core tcpdump syntax (reading captures, payload inspection, host/port filtering, TCP flag matching) using a clean sample file, then applies it to a real incident-response case to show why packet-level visibility catches things host logs structurally can't.

We analysed daily DNS snapshots of the Tranco top-1M. Of 659,259 mail-receiving domains, 67.4% publish no enforced DMARC policy, ~96,000 run "monitoring mode" that reports to no one, and the enforcement share is declining — a side effect of the 2024–2025 bulk-sender mandates that made p=none the ceiling.

  • The $2 Trillion Compliance Problem: Why Regulated Industries Need a Unified AI Approach

This story was originally published on HackerNoon at: https://hackernoon.com/the-$2-trillion-compliance-problem-why-regulated-industries-need-a-unified-ai-approach.

The U.S. spends $2.15 trillion a year on regulatory compliance, and after years of building compliance systems, I think I know why: every regulated industry rebuilds the same infrastructure from scratch. Finance, healthcare, and corporate communications all solve an identical problem (messy data in, rules applied, audit trail out) with completely separate tools, while 77% of compliance teams still work manually. The fix is three shared layers: a universal data pipeline, a context-aware analysis engine, and a regulatory change tracker. Nobody has built them as one platform because vendors organize by vertical, not by problem. I'm working on changing that, and I have a prototype running rules from four unrelated regulatory domains through a single engine.

  • AI Agents & Non-Human Identities: Why They Must Be IAM Users

This story was originally published on HackerNoon at: https://hackernoon.com/ai-agents-and-non-human-identities-why-they-must-be-iam-users.

AI agents and non-human identities must exist as first-class IAM users before they act. Start with auditability, access review, and governance in your IAM.

AI agents should not run on secrets, tokens, shared service accounts, or borrowed human sessions. If they can access systems, interpret context, select tools, and trigger actions, they need stable, visible identities in IAM. Start simple: create directory users for meaningful agents, classify them as “Agent”, apply governance groups such as human-supervised or high-privilege, and govern them before they act.
