The Cycling for More podcast is taking a break for the rest of the summer in 2021. Join Nick as he shares with you the exciting things that are happening in his family and why he'll be taking some time away from the show. Thanks for listening and we can't wait to be back with you in the fall!
It's time to put your climbing legs on as we head west to the state of Washington and the Cascade Mountains! We've called our Washington State Bike Ride a "climber's delight" for good reason, but along with some climbing you'll get to experience some of the best scenery the state has to offer. You'll also have the opportunity to partner with Solid Rock Mission in Ukraine as you pray, pedal (or serve) and repeat. Solid Rock Mission is working throughout the country of Ukraine to disciple youth into faithful followers of Jesus that will bring the Kingdom of God wherever they go. Join Nick as he shares more about this great ride and talks with Slavik Go, founder of Solid Rock Mission, about how the ministry got started and the many ways they are reaching into the lives of the youth of Ukraine. You'll no doubt be drawn in and inspired by Slavik's passion.
So many times we think that in order to see improvement, in cycling or in life, we have to always be working. We think that it is our constant activity that makes us improve. The reality is that the improvement actually comes when we stop constantly working and we practice a little "R&R." Rest and recovery are actually vital to getting stronger in our cycling lives and in our spiritual lives. Join Nick, Dr. Les Hardin and USA Cycling Coach Leah Hardin as they talk about the importance of building rest and recovery into our our cycling training and into our daily lives.
In 2010, two friends did something crazy. They rode 200 miles on bicycles in one day. The next year they decided to do it again, but their hearts had been broken by the injustice of human trafficking in the world. So they invited others to ride with them and raised some funds to make a difference. With that, what would become Break the Cycle 200 (BTC200) was born. Join us as we chat with Rocky Vest, Co-Founder of BTC200, about how that first ride came about and the journey that God has led him and the organization on as they use one day, 200 mile rides to help break the cycle of human trafficking around the world.
Joining as co-host this month is Ends of the Earth Cycling's Executive Director, Justin Hanneken. We spend some time talking about this years Giro d'Italia, some of the connections between Ends Cycling and BTC200 and our big takeaways from the interview with Rocky. We also take a look at what's happening in the next month with Ends Cycling as we look to continue to #praypedalrepeat in all 50 States.

You've set your goal. You've got some new disciplines that you want to work on to help you toward your goal. The question now is, "How do I put all this together?" In this episode of our series Training for More we take some time to talk about a general approach to planning a week of training. Whether you are a beginner or have been cycling forever, this is the type of approach that can help you towards achieving your goal. There's also plenty that developing a training plan can teach us about training for life and godliness as we do things on purpose and with consistency.
There's more to Idaho than potatoes! In fact, there are some of the most beautiful vistas the United States has to offer. In June 2021 we are headed to Southwest Idaho for the Idaho Bike Ride. Not only will it be filled with some amazing views, but we'll even have the opportunity to ride beside one of the country's most historical trails. Even better than all this? We're riding on behalf of Wipe Every Tear and the youth of the Philippines!
Join Nick as he shares more about the Idaho bike ride and chats with Kenny Sacht and Lauren Smith from Wipe Every Tear. You'll hear about the work they are doing in the Philippines to bring freedom, hope and a future to the women they are rescuing from the sex trafficking industry. (Due to the nature of their work, you might want to be careful what little ears are listening to the interview with you.)
To learn more about the ride or to register, head to endscycling.com/idaho. To learn more about Wipe Every Tear, you can visit them at wipeeverytear.org.
As we train we have to develop new goals. Why? Because as our cycling fitness improves, we need new goals that are appropriate for our new levels of fitness. As our goals change we find that we also need to develop new skills and disciplines to help us reach those goals. Join Nick, Dr. Les Hardin and USA Cycling Coach Leah Hardin as we discuss different types of goals and disciplines for different levels of cyclists. We also talk about how our goals need to change in our developing spiritual lives, and the importance of putting in the work whether you're training for cycling or training for more.
Encourage one another. A simple command that can sometimes feel difficult to do. We all know life can be really hard, and the challenges we face can feel overwhelming. What if learning to share those challenges and all the Lord has brought us through means we are able to encourage one another all the more? This month we talk with Jay "Hoss" Carlson. Jay loves the Lord and loves riding his bicycle, especially on Ends Cycling tours. Jay was also born with hydrocephalus. Join us as we talk with Jay about the challenges he's faced because of this condition, and how he has embraced them and used them as a way to encourage anyone he can. Jimmy Akers joins as co-host this month, and we talk about how he's been involved with Ends Cycling, hear his recap of the most recent Key West Bike Ride, and take a look at what's ahead for Ends Cycling and the Cycling for More podcast.

Training for More, our brand new subseries, is officially here! 1 Timothy 4:8 tells us that, "physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things." So, we want to train for more. We want to train for cycling and for life, and we believe that our cycling training can teach us a lot about training for life and godliness. This means there is something here for everyone! Join Nick, Dr. Les Hardin and USA Cycling Coach Leah Hardin as we talk about the first step in beginning your cycling training and how it applies to your spiritual training as well.
Sometimes it feels like time has run out. It feels like we've missed our chance at something we really wanted. Or maybe it even feels like the Lord is never going to respond. However, the truth is far from that. Join us as we chat with Tim and Debbie Bishop about their story of finding love later in life and the incredible honeymoon adventure they went on. It's truly a story that combines love, cycling and the faithfulness of God. We've also got another special guest co-host for this episode, and The Road Ahead segment is not to be missed.
