With all that this life can throw at us, it is extremely common and expected that we would grapple with some tough questions about struggling. Why do bad things happen? How can I possibly love people who have hurt me so deeply? If I'm saved from sin, then why do I still struggle with it? Over this six-week series, we'll be wrestling with fundamental questions about who Gods says we are and what He wants for us in this life and beyond. We are glad you are here with us as we recognize together that the struggle is real!

Paul writes another letter to the Corinthian church, but instead of a harsh stone like in previous letters, this is one of warmth and encouragement. Paul’s focus in this letter is for the church members to understand how a life of ministry looks in the midst of suffering and persecution.

John writes to the church at Ephesus in order to warn them of the dangers of living a

sinful lifestyle while acknowledging being a follower of Jesus Christ. Before the believers

can address whatever sin issue they may be struggling with, they must recognize God as

the true Light. Understanding God as light will help lead the believers to repentance in

order to restore a fractured relationship with God back into a harmonious one.

Isaac had twin sons, Esau, born first, and Jacob. Jacob cheats his older brother out of his

birthright and the blessing from their father. To avoid Esau's anger and threats, Jacob flees to

his uncle, Laban. He works for 20 years in exchange for livestock and marriage to Laban's two

daughters. God urges Jacob to return home to Canaan. Now, Jacob must face his brother.

Living in a peaceable manner with other believers is a necessity for Christians. In doing so, we are able to exemplify the love of Jesus for others to see (both believer and unbeliever). The issue at hand is that it is not always an easy task. James gives instruction on how we can do so in order to be united as believers.

In the Gospel of Matthew, the account of Jesus walking on water follows immediately after the feeding of the 5,000. Jesus wants to teach the disciples about trusting Him to provide for their needs and the lesson is a hard lesson to learn, but it is one that teaches them the importance of trusting Jesus as more than just a teacher, but trusting Him as their Lord.

Paul used a first-century hymn which Christians used in their worship of Jesus as God and for His supremacy over creation, the Church, and in their salvation to prime his audience for his counter to the false teaching at Colossae.
