Maggie Ewen is one of the most prolific athletes in the NCAA. She does four different events in Track: the weight throw, the discus, the shot put, and the hammer throw. She is absolutely incredible at throwing stuff. Last year she set the collegiate record in the hammer throw to win nationals and she also finished 2nd in the discus and sixth in the shot put at nationals. Maggie is also a Bowerman finalist, which is Track's equivalent of the Heisman AND last year she represented the United States at the Track and Field World Championships! Maggie is a senior and she won't admit this, but she is taking the NCAA on an absolute tour. In this conversation Maggie talks about how she trained in Minnesota during the winter, how the perception of throwers having a certain body-type deters young girls trying to enter the sport, and she breaks down her mentality, which has enabled her to become one of the best throwers, not only in the NCAA, but in the world. This conversation was an absolute blast and I hope you love it as much as I did!
