First solo podcast from Angela, who has worked as a qualified social worker for a really long time and has dedicated many years of study, research and practice in the area of adult mental health, substance misuse, street homeless, children and families.

Angela takes us through the origins and benefits of Life Story work in adulthood and believes this could be one of many ways to make sense of our sometimes fragmented stories.

The key to this approach is recognising our deep need for belonging and that it can be threatened by the emotions that can accompany the trauma of painful life events (shame, anger and confusion).

Life story work in adulthood calls for us to become detectives in our own lives.

Dr Aybar is a Doctor of Chiropractic,  and is the 4th Black woman to graduate from the Fountainhead of Chiropractic in 125 years.... yes you heard me 125 years!

Dr. Aybar came to Australia in 1994, married, started a private practice and a family. Over the years, Dr. Aybar was actively involved with the Chiropractic association of Victoria holding various positions from Vice President to chairing committees both on state and National levels as well as a founding member of the Endometriosis Care Center of Australia.

Dr Aybar talks candidly about motherhood and parenting through the many different stages of her children's lives and talks reflectively about parenting which she feels is about "bearing witness to another persons development".

Dr Aybar has lots of wise and deeply compassionate reflections to share with  parents, especially those who have children who experience emotional health issues and those taking the parenting journey solo.

We look forward to Dr Aybar's books which are in development and soon to be published!
