  • This week: Time Gentlemen? Please! & Roll Play

Every day I write a blog and every week I choose the best two to record for this podcast.

This week, you can hear about why my inability to get times and dates right appears to have been inherited by my poor children in "Time Gentlemen? Please!" And if that were not enough, you can hear about a perhaps surprising challenge I've faced during a week of being a team leader in "Roll Play."

This is episode 40 so please delve into the archive where you will hear other examples of my ongoing battle to make sense of the world. And if you enjoyed this episode, please tell your friends, colleagues and even your enemies to convince me that this is a project worth pursuing.

If you want to read the other five posts from this week, please go to www.threeflats.wordpress.com where you'll find every post since January 2019. Yes, really.

Did I say I wrote and recorded the theme tune too? Well, if not, I have now...

  • This week: Par(sifal) for the Course & Coffee Chaos and Train Troubles

I went to a Wagner opera last week. It was very long. And my blog about was longer than usual too so this week's podcast is around 12 minutes rather than the usual 8-10. Sorry about that but like I said, blame Wagner.

The first bit, Par(sifal) for the Course is about that opera; the second bit, Coffee Chaos and Train Troubles, is about my trials and tribulations getting there and back including my inability to pack the right thing at the right time.

Both are taken from my daily blog which I write every day hence the name. It's at www.threeflats.wordpress.com and has been running for nine years. This podcast has only been running for 39 weeks but that's still longer than most. Do listen to all the episodes.

By the way, the music is mine too. But much, much shorter than anything Wagner wrote...

  • This week: Play(ing) Nearly Took All Day & A Wagner Sanger

Every day since January 2018, I write a blog post. And then I upload it.

Every week since January 2026, I choose the best two (or the least worst two) and record them for this podcast.

Every week, a few people listen so I'm going to carry on until nobody does.

This week, there's a tale about me spending all evening recording a song that I didn't need, and why it took so long to decide to go and see a Wagner opera.

Speaking of music, I wrote the theme. I recorded it too. But it's instrumental so I couldn't sing it.

  • This week: Ties to the Past & The Good, The Baid, and the Giggly

Every day I write a blog post and publish it at www.threeflats.wordpress.com where you can find 3000+ entries to prove that fact.

Every week, I choose the best two and record them as a podcast. Well, every week since January 2026...

This week, Ties to the Past talks about how my choice of tie unleashed a wave of memories about my Dad, and The Good, The Baid, and the Giggly contains a warning about the unexpected outcomes of using AI.

As well as all the words you hear, I wrote all the music too. And like the words, I recorded it too...

  • Son, Sand and Snark & Game, Seat and Match - this week's best bits

I write a daily blog. Every day. It's at www.threeflats.wordpress.com if you don't believe me.

Every week, I choose the best two daily entries and record them as a podcast. I've been doing that since January 2026 and so far 240 people have listened to them at the time of writing. Go me.

This week, I talk about a visit by my son and his partner (Son, Sand and Snark) and the difficulties one faces when choosing a seat at the cinema (Game, Seat and Match).

The theme music, if you can call it that, was written and performed by me. Go me. Again.

  • Bean and Gone & Stall in the Family: this week's tales

I write a daily blog and have done so since January 2018.

Since January 2026, I've been choosing two a week and recording them as a podcast.

Bean and Gone explains what a BCT is and why they are back in the garage.

Stall in the Family explains why I laughed at my son stalling his car so much and why that isn't as cruel as it sounds.

The full blog is at www.threeflats.wordpress.com

I wrote the music too. And played it...

  • Guides, Covers and Other Unexpected Journeys - this week's best bits

Every week, I take the best two posts from my daily blog at threeflats.wordpress.com and record them as a podcast.

"A Cover Story" explains why a temporarily forgotten list of songs played a key part in a meeting I had this week.

"Twice in One Night?!" is about the extraordinary evening where I went out twice - unheard of for a person who rarely goes out at all.

As well as all the words, I wrote and performed all the music too.

If you enjoyed this, there are 33 other episodes some of which has considerably fewer mistakes in the recording...

  • This Week: “Tickets Please” & “Musical Musings”

Tickets Please explains the perils of booking theatre tickets at work.

Music-AI Musings talks about what happened when AI met one of my songs.

Both are taken from my daily blog at www.threeflats.wordpress.com

That's a daily blog and this a weekly podcast. Don't get the two confused please.

One of my songs is also the theme tune and that's me playing it - not AI...

  • The Bank Holiday Backing Track That Got Out of Hand

The best two posts from my daily blog at www.threeflats.wordpress.com

"Bank Holiday Backing" describes the many disasters I encountered whilst trying to produce an orchestral sounding backing track.

"Much Music Based Mayhem" describes three further musical disasters involving a record case, a record, and a regimental goat...

As well as all the words, I wrote all the music too.

This is a weekly podcast so if you enjoyed this, please look at the previous 31 episodes. Shouldn't take long - just over five hours...

  • Charging Chaos and a Battery of Issues & Let The Record State (for the 200th time)

Charging Chaos and a Battery of Issues explains why a morning spent trying to charge my electric car proved to be a waste of time.

Let The Record State (for the 200th time) is a pathetic attempt of justifying buying my 200th record when I really meant to buy a new watch instead.

Both are taken from my daily blog www.threeflats.wordpress.com where I write stuff every day and choose two a week for this podcast. Do like and subscribe but don't ask me how.

As well as all the words, I wrote all the music too.
