Scott got COVID and the guys discuss it.
And then we very briefly discuss this last quote:
“The first task is to create space in the child’s heart for the certainty that she is precisely the person the parents want and love. She does not have to do anything or be any different to earn that love - in fact, she cannot do anything, since that love cannot be won or lost. The child can be ornery, unpleasant, whiny, uncooperative, and plain rude, and the parent still lets her feel loved. Ways have to be found to convey the unacceptability of certain behaviors without making the child herself feel unaccepted. She has to be able to bring her unrest, her least likable characteristics to the parent and still receive the parent’s absolutely satisfying, security-inducing unconditional love.” - Gordon Neufeld

“Parenting young children is an intensely emotional experience. There is the pure pleasure of cuddling, playing, laughing and exploring. And then there are the challenges, the moments of stress, anger, frustration, and resentment at the totally irrational demands of a toddler, or at the aggressive behavior of an older child toward a new baby. These experiences naturally evoke strong feelings that can be hard to handle. But most of the behaviors that we find maddening are a natural part of growing up and are not intended to be malicious; they are a child’s effort to cope with a difficult feeling or situation. Children need our assistance, not our anger.” - ZeroToThree.org
And we have our first guest on the pod! Mr. Nate Hills graced us with his presence and insight for this discussion. Hope you enjoy!

“We punish our child instead of taking responsibility for our own anger and restoring ourselves to a state of calm. Punishing our child discharges our own frustration and worry, and makes us feel better.” - Dr. Laura Markham

“When you’ve had one call after another and your little one is tugging on your shirt, remember what really matters. When the milk is splattered all over the floor and those little eyes are looking at you for your reaction, remember what really matters. It takes 5 minutes to clean up spilled milk; it takes much longer to clean up a broken spirit.” - Rebecca Eanes
What does it take to break a kid's spirit? How often do we lash out when we're stressed? How can we limit our outbursts when we're stressed? We discuss...

Alcohol. We like it. But do we like it too much? What does drinking to excess look like? Why is drinking to excess such a taboo, but other things done to excess are condoned? Are Christians too rigid in their interpretation of Biblical teachings about alcohol? We discuss.
