We’re really trying to hammer down a proper recording schedule for you all. Thanks so much to those who have stayed with us, thanks again to Marko Čavlina for mentioning us on the HEMA International Discussion FB group and welcome to everyone who came to us from that post!

While we try to figure out a schedule we can manage you can look forward to more episodes like this. A little on the shorter length, only involving one or two of us at a time. We’ll also try to make sure we get more content up on the site and social media in the form of pictures, video and some blog posts.

While we haven’t been recording much, we sure have been busy. Brant and Brian became founding members of a HEMA performance and study group. Basically, we wanted to find a way to be allowed to fence inside Fort Henry and realized the best way to do so was to volunteer ourselves to perform as the “warm up act” for their sunset ceremonies.

A part 2 of this podcast will be forthcoming (we promise), with Krista letting us know the some of the realities of Brian’s fanciful memories of his time in the Fort Henry Guard.

There’s been a lot of upheaval in our personal lives including a minor car accident the night before this very recording. As a result I’ve come to you again, hat in hand, begging forgiveness for our long absence.

Recently, returning from a day of fencing to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the St. Lawrence Swordfighters’ Guild, we turned on our cell phone mics and recorded some great conversation with the Head Instructor at Ironwood Sword School, Robert MacLeod.

Waaay back in August we sat down in a babyful living room and recorded an episode that never saw the light of day. Not for any good reason other than life got busy and we simply forgot. While it might not be so timely now as then we thought we’d put it out there anyway.

On August 20th The Tragically Hip, a rock band formed in Kingston in the 80s performed one last time, back in Kingston. For those of you who don’t know the Hip‘s lead singer, Gord Downie recently announced his diagnosis of a terminal brain cancer. In spite of his illness the band elected to perform a cross-Canada tour ending in at the K-Rock Centre in Kingston, ON. The final concert was broadcast live by the Canadian Broadcast Corporation (CBC) on television and YouTube. At least 11 million screens tuned in, including ours. This week we go back to a few days after that final concert and listen to our thoughts.
