Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant is a 2009 American dark fantasy film adaptation of the Vampire Blood trilogy of the book series The Saga of Darren Shan by author Darren Shan. Willem Dafoe is in it for two scenes! And that is a real crime because his costume and character may have been the best...Read moreRead more

This Harrison Ford political thriller from 1994 features a gung-ho Dafoe- a gun for hire who takes on the Columbian Cartels with his own private army!  Great Dafoe lines and with Ford in his prime, this is a recommended watch by Isaac and Ann, though Ann has a point that the film is a bit...Read moreRead more

Roadhouse 66 is a 1984 independent film which is nearly out of print, but which you can watch on YouTube right now for free! This is not the classic Patrick Swayze movie, “Roadhouse”, even though it came out nearly 5 years before the wild action flick and did originally omit the “66” from its title. This episode was inspired by Isaac’s recent trip to China! The trip itself was great- this movie, not so much. Controversial from the release of its first marketing materials for perceived white-washing, this Matt Damon lead picture has much less to do with the actual Great Wall and much more to do with monsters who wish...Read moreRead more

Based on the manga series which spawned several anime series, live-action Japanese films and other such spinoffs, Netflix’s American take on Death Note attempts to stuff tomes of material into a 101-minute movie. From acclaimed director Spike Lee, 2006’s Inside Man is stocked with incredible and highly talented stars and boasts some amazing on-location shooting and sharp cinematography. It’s also probably 40 minutes longer than it needs to be and can’t shake the paint-by-numbers pacing which is likely a hold-over from Ron Howard’s time with the project. Sadly, Dafoe is regulated...Read moreRead more
