Why are so many people who preach inclusion and diversity actually interested in you being quiet and blindly agreeing with them? That's not inclusion or diversity. To parents of newly diagnosed kids: You're still you, and you have an even more important and challenging existence, so don't get backed in a corner. I always says "I still like to watch sports, drink beer, cuss, coach my kids' sports...", this diagnosis doesn't require me to shut-down, and accept a victim mentality.
