Today's reading comes to us from 1Samuel Chapter 8. Today we will read  about Samuel's sons not judging the way Samuel judges, so the people  claim this as their excuse to want Samuel to find them a human king. God  reassures Samuel that the people are not turning away from him, they  are turning away from God as their king and forgetting about Him,  worshiping idols again. We will read about God's warning to the people  that if they wanted a human king they would end up serving him and would  eventually regret it and ask God to get rid of the king. God warned  them that when they called on Him to remove the king he would not answer  them. In our discussion today we will talk about the fact that God  gives us free will, including the free will to make our own mistakes and  deal with the consequences of choosing to do what we want rather than  do what God wants us to do.

Thank you for joining me today. Today's reading covers 1 Samuel Chapters  5-7. Today we will find out what happened to the people who took God's  Ark.  We will see that God brought trouble to them until they decided to  return it to God's people. We will see God's faithfulness and love for  His people to protect them from their enemies as soon as they turned  back to Him, confessed their sins, and threw away their idols. In our  discussion today we will talk about how loving, forgiving, and faithful  God is to care for and protect us when we seek Him and love Him with all  of our hearts and how He does not hold a grudge against us when we ask  for forgiveness. This divine example shows us how we also need to  forgive and love those who ask for forgiveness from us and not hold  grudges. We will discuss that nothing can separate us from the love of  God that is in Christ Jesus and God will protect us when we seek Him,  love Him, and serve Him with all of our hearts. He is mighty to save.

Happy Saturday! Today's reading comes to us from 1 Samuel chapters 2-4.  There is a lot to read today! We will read about Eli's sons, who were also priests, sinning against God. We will read about God's warning to  Samuel about what He will do to Eli and his sons and God sending Eli a message through a prophet about what He will do to Eli and his sons because  of their disobedience and disrespect to Him. We will eventually see God's judgement on Eli's family because he did not correct the wrong being done by his sons. Lastly, we will read about the Ark of the Covenant being captured by the enemy! In our discussion for personal  application to today's reading we will talk about the importance of not putting anyone or anything before God in our lives.

Today's reading is from 1 Samuel Chapters 1-2. We will read about  Samuel's mom, Hannah, praying for a child and being so grateful for  God's gracious provision that she gives the son back to God to serve him  his whole life. We will see God bless her further by giving her 5 more  children after Samuel! We will read about Delilah trying to find out about Samson's  secret so she can sell the information to the enemy and have him  captured! We will read bout God's faithfulness to restore Samson's  strength after his hair starts to grow back and discuss that God's faithfulness to us never ends. He is always ready to forgive us and  nothing can separate us from His love.

Today we will see Samson committing sins and God's ability and  perfect will to use Samson and work good into what Samson was doing. In our discussion we will talk about not letting ourselves be part of  situations in which we will be tempted to sin, but be encouraged to know that even when we do, God is faithful and still uses us for His purpose.

Today's reading comes to us from Judges 13. Today we will be introduced  to the story of Samson and see how God set Samson apart to be special for Him before Samson is even born! This is a very special and not seen before dedication to God, called a Nazirite vow. (The term Nazirite vow is not used in our Day By Day Kid's Bible but is described.) In our discussion we will talk  about our personal application: the New Testament parallel to the Nazirite vow in Romans 12:1-2, where Paul tells us that we are to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to God, holy and pleasing to God. We  are not to conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed by  the renewing of our minds so that we are able to test and approve what  God's good, pleasing, and perfect will is. This is a vow we need to take every day, as we daily take up our crosses to follow Jesus.

We will see Ruth obeying Naomi's guidance to  go to Boaz, asking him to marry her and take care of her as a man related to her husband, and his responsibility to do so, since her  husband had died. We will see Boaz thankful to Ruth and honoring to God,  making sure that the man first in line has the opportunity to accept this responsibility before agreeing to marry her. We will see Boaz  caring for both Ruth and Naomi when he gives Ruth food before she  leaves. In our discussion I will share my personal application to how I related to Ruth marrying an older man who had been taking care of her.

We will see that God had a plan for Ruth's life, to bring her to Bethlehem and introduce her to Boaz. We will see Boaz's generosity to Naomi while she exercised her right to gather grain in his fields and be encouraged to be just as generous as Boaz in OUR lives. We will discuss the family line of Jesus, which included Rahab marrying Salmon and them having  Boaz. We will be reminded that God ALWAYS has a plan in mind and is working good into EVERYTHING that happens in our lives!
