In just one sentence, the entire story of Exodus changes. Before this moment, Egypt was a place of safety for the Israelites but after it, Egypt was a place of captivity. In Genesis, Pharaoh had experienced the power of God and stood in awe, but in Exodus, the new Pharaoh had forgotten God and ruled as a tyrant. This pivot in the story, marks a pivot in history and it leads to one of the most astounding stories of God's faithful providence in the entire scriptures.
