UCLA has made a lot of executives happy by discovering a lifesaving prostate cancer treatment and suing to keep that medicine out of countless people’s hands. But this dramatic business move is taking its toll – not just on Indians, but also on Bruins.

Millions of Indians stand to lose access to a lifesaving prostate cancer treatment called enzalutamide if UCLA succeeds in coercing the Indian government to grant it a patent. But the university isn’t doing this to make money. Instead, it’s doing this for the prestige – and millions could die as a result.
