A Japanese regulator says stable coins are not virtual currencies. As such, stable coin brokers would need additional licenses to operate as an issuer of prepaid instruments.

StarkWare Privacy Protocol

Another crypto startup StarkWare is making waves for its zero-knowledge proofs privacy feature that can be added to public blockchains. StarkWare recently raised a total of $30 million dollars from an all-star group of crypto funds that include Consensys, Coinbase Ventures, Multicoin Capital, Scalar Capital,  Intel Capital, Sequoia Capital, and Pantera Capital just to name a few. Creative naming convention guys.

Bitstamp Money Moves

The Luxembourg-based exchange Bitstamp has been acquired by a private equity firm in Brussels for a rumored $400 million dollars. Not a bad investment considering the founder started the company with one thousand euros.

Maple Changed

shEOS

Earlier this week, Spanish-software company shEOS announced a protocol that will quote unquote teleport you ethereum tokens on to the EOS blockchain. They do this by bricking your Ethereum tokens while simultaneously resurrecting them as EOS tokens. That’s an interesting way to build interoperability. Can you guess why they call themselves shEOS?
