Probably the most notable of the week, the smart-contract company Consensys recently acquired an asteroid mining company Planetary Resources. Just to be clear, this is not crypto mining. We are talking about mining real life asteroids. You know, the type that flies around in space killing off dinosaurs and such. The hope is to extend communication and application programming with decentralized computing in space. Now that’s a brilliant use case for blockchain.

Currently he is self-funding the entire venture starting with a 170 million dollar land purchase. I wonder if he’ll learn that communities are virtual now.
