A high-level Syrian delegation, including the new foreign minister Asaad al-Shaibani, has arrived in the Qatari capital Doha. It's the new administration's second foreign visit, after a trip to Riyadh on Wednesday. Shaibani is expected to travel to several countries to establish relations, including the United Arab Emirates and neighbouring Jordan.

The Nigerian military has launched an offensive against a new rebel group that’s been attacking villages near the border with Niger. The military says the Lakurawa is responsible for a series attacks in the northwest in recent weeks, including a massacre of 15 villagers.

I’m not so sure this is going to a happy place soon,” he told Al Jazeera. While Trump has indicated he wants the war on Gaza to end, Perry said that doesn’t mean a negotiated settlement that halts the blood-shed.
