Nearly 1,500 ultra-nationalist Israelis have entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, under the protection of Israeli forces. Palestinians living in occupied East Jerusalem say the action is a deliberate provocation. This comes ahead of the “Jerusalem Day” march - when right-wing Israelis celebrate Israel's occupation of the city in 1967.

"He's gone absolutely crazy". Those are the words of US President Donald Trump as he rebuked Vladimir Putin after another weekend of Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine. He said the US and Russia were “in the middle of talking” while Putin was “shooting rockets”. Ukraine’s Air Force says Russia launched a record number of drones on Sunday. The attack was the largest of the war in terms of weapons fired, although other strikes have killed more people.

The head of the US-backed “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” (GHF) has resigned, citing concerns over independence and impartiality. Jake Wood's resignation comes just two months after he was tasked to coordinate aid distribution in Gaza. GHF is a new organisation meant to control the delivery of aid into Gaza after Israel blocked the United Nations from entering the strip. It's backed by the US and Israel, who say it will stop Hamas from “stealing” aid. Hamas denies stealing aid. Armed American security contractors will distribute aid from collection points in southern Gaza. But there is no provision for those too sick or weakened by famine to walk long distances across the strip. The United Nations has rejected the organisation, saying it would not engage with a plan "that disrespects humanity, neutrality, independence, or impartiality"

Palestinians desperate for humanitarian aid have swamped one of the first trucks delivering supplies to northern Gaza, in months. After more than 80 days of a total blockade, Israel has started allowing a limited amount of supplies into some parts of the Strip. The Israeli army says it's allowed more than 100 trucks carrying flour, food and medicine. NGOs and other groups say at least 500 trucks are needed every day, to make a tangible difference.

A failed push for police reform in the US city of Minneapolis, is casting a shadow on the fifth anniversary of George Floyd's death. The killing of the unarmed black man by a white police officer, brought racial tensions to the surface, triggering months of protests in the United States and beyond. Vigils and marches have been held around the country in Floyd's honor.

EU and Arab leaders convened in Madrid for urgent talks on Gaza, with Spain’s Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares telling Al Jazeera the priorities are "stopping the war" and ensuring aid access. He revealed the EU is reviewing its Israel association agreement over human rights violations, urging potential sanctions if attacks continue. Albares, co-chairing a two-state initiative with Jordan, warned the solution is "near nonviable" without swift Palestinian recognition, advocating a UN membership timeline. The minister compared stalled EU action on Israel to its Russia response, stressing "sanctions must be debated." While acknowledging US-Israel ties, he insisted global consensus now backs the two-state model as the only path to peace. The Madrid Group aims to build pressure to end Gaza’s blockade and revive political talks, with Albares calling the meeting "pivotal" for momentum ahead of June’s UN conference.

In Gaza, the sound of drones can be heard everywhere. An analysis digital investigations team, Sanad, has revealed that Israel is repurposing commercial drones to use as weapons of war in the Strip. A Palestinian Bedouin community has been forcibly displaced in the occupied West Bank after facing Israeli settler violence. Last week, the UK government sanctioned 7 Israeli settler outposts, individuals and organizations in the occupied West Bank for supporting settler violence. Palestinians welcomed the move but say it's hardly enough in the face of growing threats.

There have been more attacks across Gaza, killing at least 14 people since dawn on Sunday. The victims include seven Palestinians killed in an attack on a home in Jabalia, northern Gaza. Israeli forces have also targeted more residential buildings in Khan Younis, killing at least one person.
