For the past five months, Serbia has been in the grip of historic protests against President Aleksandar Vucic’s government. Young people have led the way, demanding political reform. But in doing so they’ve faced a powerful adversary – not only in government, but in its collection of loyalists in the media. Meenakshi Ravi reports from Belgrade on the narrative they have been spinning and the pushback they are getting from Serbian citizens.

Three people have been injured in a Russian air attack in the southern Ukrainian region of Mykolaiv. Several fires broke out. One of the victims was admitted to hospital. Video released by Ukraine's State Emergency Service shows firefighters battling the flames. And there was a Russian air strike on the capital, Kyiv. Mayor Vitali Klitschko says explosions were heard throughout the city and doctors were deployed to the Darnytsky district. Three people have been injured. Some were forced to seek shelter in underground metro stations.

The Israeli military has once again attacked several targets in Gaza, killing at least 46 Palestinians in the past 24 hours. Since dawn on Sunday, at least nine people have been confirmed dead in Khan Younis after Israeli forces targeted a residential building, and a tent sheltering displaced people. Rescuers have been searching through rubble for victims. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees says Israel's attacks have forced 90 percent of Gaza's population from their homes.

A video recovered from the mobile phone of a Palestinian medic killed along with 14 of his colleagues in Gaza last month contradicts Israeli claims. The video – found on the phone of deceased Rifat Radwan and released on Saturday by the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) – shows their final moments as the Palestinian medics, wearing highly reflective uniforms and inside a clearly identifiable PRCS ambulance, are shot at by Israeli forces in Rafah’s Tal as-Sultan neighbourhood in southern Gaza on March 23. Geoffrey Nice – a lawyer who previously worked at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia – denounced the footage released showing 15 paramedics in Gaza coming under heavy Israeli gunfire.

The dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza is getting worse by the day. The United Nations Food Programme is now warning---it only has food stocks to last a few days. With limited supplies and no fuel, all bakeries have already closed across the strip. That's left Palestinians with no food, no home, and no sense of security. Israel has been blocking humanitarian aid from entering the strip for more than a month---fueling desperation and hunger. So, is famine now inevitable?

Over the past month, hundreds of international students in the US have either been detained, deported, or stripped of their visas for protesting Israel’s war on Gaza. The Trump administration’s crackdown is being described as an assault on political dissent - one that has been enabled by mainstream news outlets and pro-Zionist pressure groups. This story is about more than just visas. It’s about who gets to speak in Trump’s America.

Children have been among the most severely affected by the continuing Israeli war on Gaza. Many of them have been killed, injured and orphaned and we can see that thousands of children have lost their limbs and they are suffering from severe trauma. As the UNRWA spokesperson stated: 51 percent of Gaza’s population are children and they make up the largest proportion of those that were killed since the war began back on October 7, 2023. For many children here in Gaza, displacement has taken a very heavy, huge toll on them. They have been repeatedly displaced, forced to flee their homes and right now they are forced to live in overcrowded shelters and tents and on the rubble of their destroyed homes and residential buildings. And we can see that Gaza’s healthcare system is struggling to continue providing essential care for thousands of wounded children, who are not able to receive enough medical treatment locally and they desperately, urgently need to be evacuated outside the territory.

Afghan women’s rights activists are facing deportation from Pakistan, along with hundreds of thousands of Afghans living there. The activists risk imprisonment or death if they return to life under the Taliban in Afghanistan. Afghans have sought refuge in Pakistan for years, but the government says they cannot remain there indefinitely. As international resettlement programs shut down and Pakistan accelerates removals, where can Afghans go?
