Wednesday  - 1 John 4:7-12

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

Tuesday - Mark 10:13-16

13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

Monday – Ephesians 3:16-18

16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God..”

1 Peter 1:3-9

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Job 42:7-11
7 After the Lord had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has. 8 So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.” 
10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. 11 All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the Lord had brought on him.

Psalm 145 selected verses

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;    his greatness no one can fathom.
4 One generation commends your works to another;    they tell of your mighty acts.
8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate,    slow to anger and rich in love.
14 The Lord upholds all who fall    and lifts up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look to you,    and you give them their food at the proper time.
16 You open your hand    and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways    and faithful in all he does.

Job 42:1-6

Then Job replied to the Lord:

2 “I know that you can do anything,    and no one can stop you.
3 You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’
    It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about,    things far too wonderful for me.
4 You said, ‘Listen and I will speak!
    I have some questions for you,
    and you must answer them.’
5 I had only heard about you before,
    but now I have seen you with my own eyes.
6 I take back everything I said,
    and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.”

Job 38:1-18 and 40:1-5     

Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind:

2 “Who is this that questions my wisdom    with such ignorant words?
3 Brace yourself like a man,    because I have some questions for you,
    and you must answer them.
4 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
    Tell me, if you know so much
5 Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line?
6 What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone
7 as the morning stars sang together and all the angels[a] shouted for joy?
12 “Have you ever commanded the morning to appear and caused the dawn to rise in the east?
13 Have you made daylight spread to the ends of the earth, to bring an end to the night’s wickedness?
18 Do you realize the extent of the earth?
    Tell me about it if you know!

Then the Lord said to Job,
2 “Do you still want to argue with the Almighty?
    You are God’s critic, but do you have the answers?”

3 Then Job replied to the Lord,
4 “I am nothing—how could I ever find the answers?
    I will cover my mouth with my hand.
5 I have said too much already.    I have nothing more to say.”

Friday – Psalm 40 selected verses 

 I waited patiently for the Lord;    he turned to me and heard my cry.2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,    out of the mud and mire;he set my feet on a rock    and gave me a firm place to stand.11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord;    may your love and faithfulness always protect me.12 For troubles without number surround me;    my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.They are more than the hairs of my head,    and my heart fails within me.13 Be pleased to save me, Lord;    come quickly, Lord, to help me.16 But may all who seek you    rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say,    “The Lord is great!”17 But as for me, I am poor and needy;    may the Lord think of me.  You are my help and my deliverer;    you are my God, do not delay.

Thursday – Romans 8:28-39

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[i] have been called according to his purpose  31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things…. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[k] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord
