    • 1: And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,
    • 2: And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.
    • 3: And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.
    • 4: And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.
    • 5: And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?
    • 6: And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.
    • 7: And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.
    • 8: And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.
    • 9: And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:
    • 10: Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.
    • 11: And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.
    • 12: And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:
    • 13: And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
    • 14: And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
    • 15: And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
    • 16: And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.
    • 17: And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
    • 18: And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
    • 19: And when even was come, he went out of the city.
    • 20: And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.....

    • 1: And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.
    • 2: And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.
    • 3: And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.
    • 4: And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
    • 5: And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
    • 6: Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.
    • 7: But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
    • 8: And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
    • 9: What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.
    • 10: And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
    • 11: This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
    • 12: And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
    • 13: And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.
    • 14: And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
    • 15: Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
    • 16: And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.
    • 17: And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.
    • 18: Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
    • 19: Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.....

    • 1: And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.
    • 2: And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
    • 3: And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
    • 4: Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.
    • 5: And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.
    • 6: When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.
    • 7: And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
    • 8: And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
    • 9: Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
    • 10: And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
    • 11: And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
    • 12: And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
    • 13: And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
    • 14: Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
    • 15: No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
    • 16: I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
    • 17: (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
    • 18: And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
    • 19: (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)
    • 20: Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
    • 21: But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.
    • 22: And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
    • 23: And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed....

    • 1: Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

    • 2: And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

    • 3: And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

    • 4: And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

    • 5: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

    • 6: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

    • 7: Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

    • 8: And they remembered his words,

    • 9: And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

    • 10: It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.

    • 11: And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

    • 12: Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

    • 13: And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

    • 14: And they talked together of all these things which had happened.

    • 15: And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

    • 16: But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

    • 17: And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?

    • 18: And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?

    • 19: And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:

    • 20: And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.

    • 21: But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done......

    • 2: And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

    • 3: Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

    • 4: And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.

    • 5: And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

    • 6: And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

    • 7: Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

    • 8: And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.

    • 9: And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?

    • 10: And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.

    • 11: And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

    • 12: And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

    • 13: And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

    • 14: And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

    • 15: And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

    • 16: For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

    • 17: And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

    • 18: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

    • 19: And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

    • 20: Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

    • 21: But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.

    • 22: And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!

    • 23: And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

    • 2: And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
    • 3: And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
    • 4: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.
    • 5: And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,
    • 6: As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
    • 7: And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
    • 8: And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
    • 9: But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
    • 10: Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
    • 11: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
    • 12: But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
    • 13: And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
    • 14: Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
    • 15: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
    • 16: And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
    • 17: And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
    • 18: But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
    • 19: In your patience possess ye your souls.
    • 20: And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
    • 21: Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
    • 22: For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

    • 7: And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.
    • 8: For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
