    Welcome to Wednesday Morning prayer.

We proclaim the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ:

GOD in his infinite mercy, forgives all sins, and through our baptism in the name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, we are given a rebirth into new life, free from the burden of all sin. ALLELUIA

With faithfulness we respond to the good news:

We acknowledge Christ as our saviour and accept with gratitude, that we are forgiven for all wrong doings, past and present. To honour the gift of forgiveness, we release our burden of guilt and rise up to live in the glory of God forever more.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Blessed be God forever.

    Let us Pray.

    1

    Rejoice always pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks;

For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus.

Glory to God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit:

as in the beginning, so now, and for ever. Amen.

2 The Opening Canticle, A Song of God’s Grace

    Blessed are you,

the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ:

For you have blessed us in Christ Jesus

with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,

You chose us to be yours in Christ,

before the foundation of the world:

That we should be holy and blameless before you.

In love you destined us to be your children,

    through Jesus Christ:

according to the purpose of your will,

to the praise of your glorious grace:

which you freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

    Ephesians 1.3-6

    3 The Opening Prayer

    The night has passed and the day lies open before us;

let us pray with one heart and mind.

    Silence may be kept.

As we rejoice in the gift of this new day,

so may the light of your presence, O God,
    set our hearts on fire with love for you;
    now and for ever.

    Amen.

4 The Psalms as appointed. A pause is observed after each.

    Psalm reading…

    Psalm 135

1 Praise the Lord, praise the name of the Lord:

praise him, you servants of the Lord,

2 Who stand in the house of the Lord:

in the courts of the house of our God.

3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is gracious:

sing praises to his name, for it is good.

4 For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself:

and Israel as his own possession.

5 I know that the Lord is great:

and that our Lord is above all gods.

6 He does whatever he wills, in heaven and upon the earth:

in the seas and in the great depths.

7 He brings up clouds from the ends of the earth:

he makes lightning for the rain

and brings the wind out of his storehouses.

8 He struck down the firstborn of Egypt:

    both man and beast alike.

9 He sent signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt:

against Pharaoh and against all his servants.

10 He struck down great nations:

    and slew mighty kings,

11 Sihon, king of the Amorites, and Og, the king of Bashan:

and all the princes of Canaan.

12 He made over their land as a heritage:

a heritage for Israel his people.

13 O Lord, your name shall endure for ever:

so shall your renown, throughout all generations.

14 For the Lord will vindicate his people:

he will take pity on his servants.

15 As for the idols of the nations,

they are but silver and gold:

    the work of human hands.

16 They have mouths, but speak not:

they have eyes, but they cannot see.

17 They have ears, yet hear nothing:

there is no breath in their nostrils.

18 Those who make them shall be like them:

so shall everyone that trusts in them.

19 Bless the Lord, O house of Israel:

bless the Lord, O house of Aaron.

20 Bless the Lord, O house of Levi:

you that fear the Lord, bless the Lord.

21 Blessed be the Lord from Zion:

he that dwells in Jerusalem. Praise the Lord.

5 At the end of the (last) pause there may follow

We consecrate this day to your service, O Lord; may all our thoughts, words, and actions be well-pleasing to you and serve the good of our brothers and sisters; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

    Amen.

6 One or two Readings from the Bible as appointed.

    Old testament Reading…

    1 Samuel 19. 1-17;

    Jonathan Intercedes for David

1 Saul spoke with his son Jonathan and with all his servants about killing David. But Saul's son Jonathan took great delight in David. 2 Jonathan told David, “My father Saul is trying to kill you; therefore be on guard tomorrow morning; stay in a secret place and hide yourself. 3 I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will speak to my father about you; if I learn anything I will tell you.” 4 Jonathan spoke well of David to his father Saul, saying to him, “The king should not sin against his servant David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his deeds have been of good service to you; 5 for he took his life in his hand when he attacked the Philistine, and the Lord brought about a great victory for all Israel. You saw it, and rejoiced; why then will you sin against an innocent person by killing David without cause?” 6 Saul heeded the voice of Jonathan; Saul swore, “As the Lord lives, he shall not be put to death.” 7 So Jonathan called David and related all these things to him. Jonathan then brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as before.

Michal Helps David Escape from Saul

8 Again there was war, and David went out to fight the Philistines. He launched a heavy attack on them, so that they fled before him. 9 Then an evil spirit from the Lord came upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand, while David was playing music. 10 Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear; but he eluded Saul, so that he struck the spear into the wall. David fled and escaped that night.

11 Saul sent messengers to David's house to keep watch over him, planning to kill him in the morning. David's wife Michal told him, “If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.” 12 So Michal let David down through the window; he fled away and escaped. 13 Michal took an idol and laid it on the bed; she put a net of goats' hair on its head, and covered it with the clothes. 14 When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.” 15 Then Saul sent the messengers to see David for themselves. He said, “Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.” 16 When the messengers came in, the idol was in the bed, with the covering of goats' hair on its head. 17 Saul said to Michal, “Why have you deceived me like this, and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” Michal answered Saul, “He said to me, ‘Let me go; why should I kill you?’ ”

Hear the word of the LORD.

    Thanks be to God

    New testament Reading…

    Acts 13.1-12

    Barnabas and Saul Commissioned

1 Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the ruler, and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.

    The Apostles Preach in Cyprus

4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia; and from there they sailed to Cyprus. 5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John also to assist them. 6 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they met a certain magician, a Jewish false prophet, named Bar-Jesus. 7 He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and wanted to hear the word of God. 8 But the magician Elymas (for that is the translation of his name) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul away from the faith. 9 But Saul, also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him 10 and said, “You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? 11 And now listen—the hand of the Lord is against you, and you will be blind for a while, unable to see the sun.” Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he went about groping for someone to lead him by the hand. 12 When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was astonished at the teaching about the Lord.

    Hear the message of Christ.

    Thanks be to God.

    7 The Canticle,

    We praise you O God:

    we claim you as Lord.

    All creation thanks you:

    The Father everlasting.

To you all angels, all the powers of heaven:

The cherubim and serafim sing in endless praise:

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of power and might:

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

    Father of majesty unbounded:

Your true and only son, worthy of all praise,

the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide.

You, Christ, are the king of glory,

the eternal son of the father.

When you took our flesh to set us free:

You humbly chose the virgin's womb.

You overcame the sting of death:

And opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.

You are seated at God's right hand in glory:

We believe that you will come to be our judge.

Come then, God, and help your people,

bought with the price of your own blood:

And bring us with your Saints to glory everlasting.

8 The belief and principle is said

    I believe in God,

    creator of heaven and earth,

    whose love and merciful forgiveness

    endures everlasting.

I believe in Christ the saviour,

whose example of love and compassion,

taught us a restored way to live, in collaborative unity with all people.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

    whose divine guidance brings

us together to be one with the Holy Trinity.

    Amen.

      Welcome to Sunday Morning prayer.

We proclaim the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

      Blessed be God forever.

      Let us Pray.

      1

This is the day that the Lord has made.

We will rejoice and be glad in it.

      Psalm 118.24

Glory to God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit:

as in the beginning, so now, and for ever. Amen.

      3 The opening Canticle

Oh come let us sing out to the Lord.

let us shout in triumph to the rock of our salvation.

Let us come before his face with thanksgiving.

And cry out to him joyfully in psalms.

For the Lord is a great God.

and a great king above all gods.

In his hands are the depths of the earth.

and the peaks of the mountains are his also.

The sea is his and he made it.

      His hands moulded dryland.

Come let us worship and bow down.

And kneel before the Lord our maker.

For he is the Lord our god.

We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

Today if only you would hear his voice:

“Do not harden your hearts as Israel did in the wilderness.”

      “When your forebears tested me.”

“Put me to proof though they had seen my works.”

“Forty years long I loathe that generation and said.”

“It is a people who err in their hearts.”

“For they do not know my ways.”

“Of whom I swore in my wrath.”

“They shall not enter my rest.”

      3 The Opening Prayer

      The night has passed and the day lies open before us;

let us pray with one heart and mind.

      Silence may be kept.

As we rejoice in the gift of this new day,

so may the light of your presence, O God,

      set our hearts on fire with love for you;
      now and for ever.

      Amen.

4 The Psalms as appointed. A pause is observed after each.

      Psalm 2

1 Why are the nations in tumult:

and why do the peoples cherish a vain dream?

2 The kings of the earth rise up

      and the rulers conspire together:

against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,

3 ‘Let us break their bonds asunder:

let us throw off their chains from us.’

4 He that dwells in heaven shall laugh them to scorn:

the Lord will hold them in derision.

5 Then will he speak to them in his wrath,

and terrify them in his fury:

‘I, the Lord, have set up my king on Zion my holy hill.’

      6 I will announce the Lord’s decree,

      that which he has spoken:

‘You are my son, this day have I begotten you.

      7 ‘Ask of me,

and I will give you the nations for your inheritance:

the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.

8 ‘You may break them with a rod of iron:

and shatter them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.’

9 Now therefore be wise, O kings:

be advised, you that are judges of the earth.

10 Serve the Lord with awe,

and govern yourselves in fear and trembling:

lest he be angry, and you perish in your course.

11 For his wrath is quickly kindled:

blessed are those that turn to him for refuge.

5 At the end of the (last) pause there may follow

Lord God, whose blessed Son rose in triumph and set us free: grant us the fullness of life he promised us, that through the Holy Spirit our hearts may possess him whom our eyes cannot see, the same Jesus Christ our Lord.

      Amen.

6 One or two Readings from the Bible as appointed.

      NT Reading

      Revelation 3.14-22

14 ‘And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the origin of God’s creation: 15 ‘I know your works; you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were either cold or hot. 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am about to spit you out of my mouth.17 For you say, “I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing.” You do not realize that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.18 Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire so that you may be rich; and white robes to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen; and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. 19 I reprove and discipline those whom I love. Be earnest, therefore, and repent. 20 Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me. 21 To the one who conquers I will give a place with me on my throne, just as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches.’

The Gospel Reading is from John 11.38-44, Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ:

38Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. 39Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days.” 40Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” 41So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, “Father, I thank you for having heard me. 42I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me.” 43When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” 44The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”

      The reading is followed by

May your word live in us and bear much fruit to your Glory.

7 The Canticle, The Song of Zechariah (Benedictus)

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel:

who has come to his people and set them free.
The Lord has raised up for us a mighty Saviour:
born of the house of his servant David.
Through the holy prophets, God promised of old:
to save us from our enemies, from the hands of
      all who hate us,
To show mercy to our forebears:
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath God swore to our father Abraham:
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
Free to worship him without fear:
holy and righteous before him, all the days of our life.
And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High:
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
To give his people knowledge of salvation:
by the forgiveness of their sins.
In the tender compassion of our God:
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
To shine on those who dwell in darkness
      and the shadow of death:
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

      Luke 1.68–79

      8 The Apostles creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

            creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit

            born of the virgin Mary.

            suffered under Pontius Pilate,

            was crucified, died, and was buried;

            he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose from the dead.

            He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

From there he will come to judge

       the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

            the holy catholic church,

            the communion of saints,

            the forgiveness of sins,

            the resurrection of the body,

            and the life everlasting. Amen.

      10 The LORDs prayer

      Our Father in heaven,

      hallowed be your name,
      your kingdom come,
      your will be done,
      on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
      Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
      and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
      now and for ever. Amen.

10 The Collect of the Day

      Sixth Sunday of Easter

      Great and loving God,

your will for us in your Son Jesus

is the peace which the world cannot give,

your abiding gift, the Advocate he promised.

Calm all troubled hearts, dispel every fear,

and keep us steadfast in love and faithful to your word.

      Grant this through Jesus Christ,

      the firstborn from the dead,

who lives with you now and always

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

God for ever and ever. Amen.

      Prayer of the Week

      Sixth Sunday of Easter

      Eternal God,

whose Son Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life:

grant that we may walk in his way,

      rejoice in his truth, and share his risen life;

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever. Amen

11 Intercessions and Thanksgivings may be made according to local custom and need.

      Let us pray

Almighty God, through your Son Jesus Christ you gave many excellent gifts to your apostles and commanded them to feed your flock. Bless all Archbishops and bishops in the Anglican Church. So, to fill them with your truth, and clothe them with holiness, that as pastors of your Church they may diligently preach your word, and modernise their teachings of the people, to the glory of your name.

Humbly we Pray – LORD hear our prayer

God of wisdom, grant we pray that the words we have heard today make in us a desire to serve the people in bringing the good news of Christ to all who have yet to hear it, so that they may bring forth in us the fruit of good works to honour and praise your name.

Humbly we Pray – LORD hear our prayer

Creator God, we thank you for all created living beings, we ask that you look kindly with saving grace upon all animals this day, whether they are in the wild, on the streets, in captivity, or elsewhere.

Humbly we Pray – LORD hear our prayer

Almighty God, today we remember Africa Day, we ask for Your peace to reign in Africa. May African nations come together in harmony, setting aside differences and working towards a common good for all African people. Let Your common sense be their guide in actions and decisions.

Humbly we Pray – LORD hear our prayer

Loving God, as we remember all the missing children in the world, we ask that you embrace them with Your love and protection. Guide them safely back to their loved ones. Grant strength and comfort to the family during their time of waiting. May Your divine light illuminate their path, leading them home.

Humbly we Pray – LORD hear our prayer

        Welcome to Friday Morning prayer.

        1

Through Christ let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God,

the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.

        Hebrews 13.15

Glory to God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit:

as in the beginning, so now, and for ever. Amen.

2 The Opening Canticle, A Song of God’s Grace

        We have complete freedom:

to go into the most holy place by means of the death of Jesus.
He opened for us a new way, a living way:
through the curtain, through his own body.
Since we have a great high priest
set over the household of God:
let us draw near with a sincere heart and a sure faith,
With hearts that have been made clean
        from a guilty conscience:
and bodies washed with pure water.

        Hebrews 10.19–22

        3 The Opening Prayer

        The night has passed and the day lies open before us;

let us pray with one heart and mind.

        Silence may be kept.

As we rejoice in the gift of this new day,

so may the light of your presence, O God,
        set our hearts on fire with love for you;
        now and for ever.

        Amen.

Jesus Christ, Saviour of the world,

come to us in your mercy:
we look to you to save and help us.
By your cross and your life laid down,
        you set your people free:
we look to you to save and help us.
When they were ready to perish,
        you saved your disciples:
we look to you to come to our help.
In the greatness of your mercy,
        loose us from our chains:
forgive the sins of all your people.
Make yourself known as our saviour
        and mighty deliverer:
save and help us that we may praise you.
Come now and dwell with us, Lord Christ Jesus:
hear our prayer and be with us always.
And when you come in your glory:
make us to be one with you

and to share the life of your kingdom.

          1

This is the message we have heard from Christ:

That God is light, in whom there is no darkness at all.

Glory to God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit:

as in the beginning, so now, and for ever. Amen.

2 The Opening Canticle, A Song of God’s Grace

Go up to a high mountain

Herald of good tidings to Zion:

Lift up your voice with strength,

Herald of good tidings to Jerusalem.

Lift up your voice, fear not:

Say to the cities of Judah, ‘Behold your God!’

See the Lord God coming with power:

Coming to rule with his mighty arm.

He brings his reward for the people of God:

the recompense for those who are saved.

God will feed his flock like a shepherd:

          And gather the lambs in his arms;

He will hold them to his breast:

And gently lead those that are with young.

          Isaiah 40.9-11

          Almighty God,

who wonderfully created us in your own image

and yet more wonderfully restored us in your son Jesus Christ:

grant that as he came to share our human nature

          so we may be partakers in his divine glory;

who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

          one God now and forever.

          Amen.

6 One or two Readings from the Bible as appointed.

          Old testament reading

Hear the word of the LORD. Thanks be to God.

The New Testament reading is from

Hear the message of Christ. Thanks be to God.

          7 The Canticle,

In the beginning was the word:

and the word was with God,

          and the word was god:

he was in the beginning with god.

all things were made through him:

and without him, was not anything made that was made.

          In him was life:

And the life was the light of all the people.

The light shines in the darkness:

And the darkness has not overcome it.

          He was in the world:

And the world was made through him

yet the world knew him not.

He came to his own home:

and his own people received him not.

But to all who received him who believed on his name:

          He has given power to become children of God;

who were born not of blood

nor of the will of the flesh:

nor of the will of a man but of God.

          And the Word became flesh

          And dwelt among us full of grace and truth;

          we have beheld his glory:

glory as of the only son from the father

and from his fullness have we all received:

          And grace upon grace.

8 The belief and principle is said

          I believe in God,

          creator of heaven and earth,

          hallowed be your name,
          your kingdom come,
          your will be done,

            Welcome to Thursday Morning prayer

            And gather the lambs in his arms;

He will hold them to his breast:

And gently lead those that are with young.

            Isaiah 40.9-11

            3 The Opening Prayer

            The night has passed, and the day lies open before us;

let us pray with one heart and mind.

            Silence may be kept.

As we rejoice in the gift of this new day,

so may the light of your presence, O God,
            set our hearts with love for you;
            now and for ever.

            Amen.

4 The Psalms as appointed. A pause is observed after each.

            Psalm 130, 131, 133

5 At the end of the (last) pause there may follow

            Almighty God,

who wonderfully created us in your own image

and yet more wonderfully restored us in your son Jesus Christ:

grant that as he came to share our human nature

            so we may be partakers in his divine glory;

who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

            one God now and forever.

            He has given power to become children of God;

who were born not of blood

nor of the will of the flesh:

nor of the will of a man but of God.

            And the Word became flesh

            And dwelt among us full of grace and truth;

            we have beheld his glory:

glory as of the only son from the father

and from his fullness have we all received:

            And grace upon grace.

8 The belief and principle is said

            I believe in God,

            creator of heaven and earth,

            whose love and merciful forgiveness

            endures everlasting.

I believe in Christ the saviour,

whose example of love and compassion,

taught us a restored way to live,

in collaborative unity with all people.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

            whose divine guidance brings

us together to be one with the Holy Trinity.

            9 The Prayers

            Lord have mercy.

            Christ have mercy.

            God have mercy.

            10 The Lord’s Prayer

            Our Father in heaven,

            hallowed be your name,
            your kingdom come,
            your will be done,
            on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
            Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
            and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
            now and for ever. Amen.

            The Prayers of the Week

              Easter day

Lord of all life and power,

Who through the mighty resurrection of your son

overcame the old order of sin and death

To make all things new in him:

Grant that we being dead to sin and alive

               to you in Jesus Christ, may reign with him in glory;

To whom with you and the Holy Spirit

              Be praise, honour and thanksgiving,

now and for all eternity. Amen

              Let us pray

God, upon you we rely, and to you we turn. You do not waiver, and you do not abandon. Be with your people in these days leading to Easter as they remember their LORDs holy sacrifice. Grant them comfort through their tears and remind them of the joy of the resurrection.

Humbly we Pray – LORD hear our prayer

God, how great your healing hand that reaches out to those in need, how great your love for all your people. We ask you to bestow your healing on all people who are combating the illness of cancer. We thank you for your healing kindness for all your people.

Humbly we Pray – LORD hear our prayer

Lord, we have been socially inept and continue to foster broken communities of lack, yet we remain in this state without taking necessary steps to change for the better. We ask you this day to stay with us, to help us and to guide us. We know we can do better, and we are asking you to be our guide, to guide the path you expect us to walk.

Humbly, we Pray – LORD hear our prayer

God, we ask your blessing for those listed on the Anglican cycle of prayer:

                Welcome to Monday Morning prayer.

We proclaim the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ:

GOD in his infinite mercy, forgives all sins, and through my baptism in the name of my Saviour, Jesus Christ, I have been given a rebirth into new life, free from the burden of all sin.

                1

God’s love has been poured into our hearts,

through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

                Romans 5.5

Glory to God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit:

as in the beginning, so now, and for ever. Amen.

2 The Opening Canticle, A Song of God’s Marvellous Acts

I will sing a new hymn to my God:

O Lord you are great and marvellous,
you are marvellous in your strength, invincible.
Let the whole creation serve you:
                for you spoke and all things came to be;
You sent out your Spirit and it formed them:
no one can resist your voice.
Mountains and seas are stirred to their depths:
                rocks melt like wax at your presence;
But to those who revere you:
                you still show mercy.

‘For the Lord God is my strength and my song:
                and has become my salvation.’
With joy you will draw water:
                from the wells of salvation.
On that day you will say:
                ‘Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name;
‘Make known his deeds among the nations:
proclaim that his name is exalted.

let this be known in all the world.
‘Shout and sing for joy, you that dwell in Zion:

                endures everlasting.

                whose divine guidance brings

7 The Canticle, A Song of Isaiah

                  ‘Behold, God is my salvation:

                  I will trust and will not be afraid;
‘For the Lord God is my strength and my song:
                  and has become my salvation.’
With joy you will draw water:
                  from the wells of salvation.
On that day you will say:
                  ‘Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name;
‘Make known his deeds among the nations:
proclaim that his name is exalted.
‘Sing God’s praises, who has triumphed gloriously:
let this be known in all the world.
‘Shout and sing for joy, you that dwell in Zion:
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.’

                  Almighty and everlasting God,

You hate nothing that you have made,

                  And acknowledging our wretchedness,

May obtain of you, the God of all mercy,

                  Perfect remission and forgiveness;

Through Jesus Christ our Lord. amen

Welcome to Saturday Evening prayer from the Anglican ‘A prayer book for Australia’.

                    1

                    Grace to you and peace

from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

                    Ephesians 1.2

Glory to God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit:

as in the beginning, so now, and for ever. Amen.

2 The Opening Canticle, A Song of the Shepherd

                    The Lord is my shepherd:

                    therefore can I lack nothing.
He shall make me lie down in green pastures:
and lead me beside still waters.
                    He shall refresh my soul:
and guide me in right pathways for his name’s sake.
Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
                    I will fear no evil:
                    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff comfort me.
You spread a table before me in the presence of those who trouble me:
you have anointed my head with oil,
and my cup shall be full.
                    Surely your goodness and loving-kindness
shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

                    Psalm 23

                    3 The Opening Prayer

The day is now past and the night is at hand.

Let us pray with one heart and mind.

                    Silence may be kept.

Father of lights, receive the prayer and praise we offer you as our evening sacrifice; make us a light for all the world, delivered by your goodness from all the works of darkness; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord.

                    Amen.

4 The Psalms as appointed. A pause is observed after each.

                    Psalm

5 At the end of the (last) pause there may follow

Lord Christ, eternal Word and Light of the Father’s glory: send your light and your truth that we may both know and proclaim your word of life, to the glory of God the Father; for you now live and reign, God for all eternity.

                    Amen.

6 One or two Readings from the Bible as appointed.

                    1st Reading

                    2nd Reading

The readings may be followed by a period of silence for reflection, a hymn or

May your word live in us

and bear much fruit to your glory.

7 The Canticle, the Easter Anthems

Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us:

so let us celebrate the feast,

Not with the old leaven of corruption and wickedness:

but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Christ once raised from the dead dies no more:
death has no more dominion over him.
In dying, he died to sin once for all:
in living, he lives to God.
See yourselves, therefore, as dead to sin:
and alive to God in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Christ has been raised from the dead:
the first fruits of those who sleep.
For since by one man came death:
by another has come also the resurrection of the dead,
For as in Adam all die:

even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

8 The belief and principle is said

                    I believe in God,

                    creator of heaven and earth,

                    whose love and merciful forgiveness

                    endures everlasting.

I believe in Christ the saviour,

whose example of love and compassion,

taught us a restored way to live, in collaborative unity with all people.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

                    whose divine guidance brings

us together to be one with the Holy Trinity.

                    Amen.

                    9 The Prayers

                    Lord have mercy.

                    Christ have mercy.

                    God have mercy.

9 The Lord’s Prayer and the Collect of the Day

                    Our Father in heaven,

                    hallowed be your name,
                    your kingdom come,
                    your will be done,
                    on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
                    Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
                    and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours

                    now and for ever. Amen.

so that by your strength we may rise at daybreak

Welcome to Friday Morning prayer from the Anglican ‘A prayer book for Australia’.

                      The night has passed and the day lies open before us;

let us pray with one heart and mind.

                      Silence may be kept.

As we rejoice in the gift of this new day,

so may the light of your presence, O God,
                      set our hearts on fire with love for you;
                      now and for ever.

                      Amen.

4 The Psalms as appointed. A pause is observed after each.

Holy God, through your beloved Son you reconciled all things to yourself, making peace by the blood of his cross: fill us and those for whom we pray with your peace and joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

                      Amen.

come to us in your mercy:
we look to you to save and help us.
By your cross and your life laid down,
                      you set your people free:
we look to you to save and help us.
When they were ready to perish,
                      you saved your disciples:
we look to you to come to our help.

hear our prayer and be with us always.
And when you come in your glory:
make us to be one with you

and to share the life of your kingdom.

The readings in the podcast may include ancient and old-fashioned sayings and instructions that we do not in any way condone as in use or to be used in today’s modern world. The readings have not been modernised to reflect todays thinking, instead the readings remain from the old version of the NRSV bible. The podcast owners explicitly declare that each listener is responsible for their own actions in response to the bible readings and the podcast owners bare no responsibility in this sense.
