In this episode Pastor Jay Lee interviews Dr. Jonathan Lee about what depression is, the actual methods of treatment and their expected rates of effectiveness, as well as very practical advice on ways Christians can be the most helpful to loved ones experiencing depression or suicidal thoughts and ideation. Dr. Lee's Bio:
Jon Lee is a Chinese-Canadian youth psychiatrist who is fellowship trained in administering transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for the treatment of depression and OCD. He completed his training at the University of Toronto and the Temerty Center for Therapeutic Brain Intervention. He is grateful for the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life, and to support them in their journeys to stable recovery.
He currently works part time at USC in student mental health and maintains private outpatient practice through Oak Health Center (OHC). The opinions expressed in this talk are solely Dr. Lee’s and do not represent either organization’s specific or implied opinions.

Guest Bio:
Dr. Wang is a licensed psychologist, pastor, and associate professor of psychology and pastoral counseling. He is the editor of the Journal of Psychology and Theology and serves on the editorial board for Spirituality in Clinical Practice. He is principle investigator of the Seminary Formation Assessment Project, a research program funded by the John Templeton Foundation conducting longitudinal empirical research on the human and spiritual formation of students. He is also co-principle investigator of the Trauma-Resilient Church Collective Program, a 5-year project funded by the Lilly Endowment mobilizing diverse local congregations to address both individual and systematic factors as they meet the spiritual and mental health needs of trauma survivors.
Dr. Wang teaches and speaks internationally, maintains a small clinical practice in Fullerton, CA (drdavidcwang.com), is the pastor of spiritual formation at One Life City Church (onelifecitychurch.org) and serves on the board of directors for Joya Scholars (joyascholars.org). He also consults with the Global Aftercare Program of the International Justice Mission (ijm.org; an international non-profit organization devoted to ending the global slave trade) and has co-authored their manual on Trauma Informed Care. Dave and his wife Vivian live with their two daughters in Fullerton.

He is also ordained through Pacific Southwest Mennonite Conference, is a "Ministry Associate" at Pasadena Mennonite Church, and works for a faith-based nonprofit promoting affordable housing.
