Sir Keir Starmer will discuss the importance of Ukraine's sovereignty in talks with Donald Trump next week, he said in a call with the country's president.

The UK prime minister reiterated the UK's "ironclad support" for Kyiv when he spoke to Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday.

The two leaders held their second telephone conversation in four days following US President Trump's decision to re-open relations with Russia and seek an end to the war in Ukraine.

About 2,000 people marched to the Russian embassy in west London ahead of the third anniversary of Vladimir Putin's full-scale invasion.

According to a Downing Street spokesperson the prime minister also said "Ukraine must be at the heart of any negotiations to end the war" and it could be sure of "the UK's commitment to securing a just and enduring peace to bring an end to Russia's illegal war".

Giving details about the phone call, Downing Street said Sir Keir and Zelensky "agreed that this was a significant moment for the future of Ukraine and European security at large".

Sir Keir also told Zelensky "that safeguarding Ukraine's sovereignty was essential to deter future aggression from Russia".

The prime minister added "he would be progressing these important discussions in the coming days and weeks, including with Trump whilst visiting Washington DC next week".

Zelensky said he had a productive talk with Sir Keir, with the pair coordinating "our military cooperation, joint steps, and engagements for the coming week, which will be very active".

Leaders from Egypt, Jordan and the Gulf States met in Saudi Arabia on Friday to counter a reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip mooted by US President Donald Trump.

Trump has suggested that the United States could "take over" Gaza and permanently displace the more than 2 million residents to nearby Arab states, Egypt and Jordan, a plan that infuriated the Palestinians and neighboring countries.

Pope Francis was in critical condition Saturday after he suffered a prolonged asthmatic respiratory crisis while being treated for pneumonia and a complex lung infection, the Vatican said.

The 88-year-old pope, who remains conscious, received “high flows” of oxygen to help him breathe. He also received blood transfusions after tests showed low counts of platelets, which are needed for clotting, the Vatican said in a late update.

“The Holy Father’s condition continues to be critical, therefore, as explained yesterday (Friday), the pope is not out of danger,” the statement said. It was the first time “critical” had been used in a written statement to describe Francis' condition since he was hospitalized Feb. 14.

The statement also said that the pontiff “continues to be alert and spent the day in an armchair although in more pain than yesterday." Doctors declined to offer a prognosis, saying it was “reserved.”

An incident at the Kirtland Air Force Base Truman Gate led to an off-base pursuit that resulted in an Airman being injured and another killed.

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations in coordination with the FBI and Albuquerque Police Department are investigating this incident. There is currently no threat to the public.

One person has been killed and at least two police officers seriously injured in a knife attack in the eastern French city of Mulhouse.

A 37-year-old Algerian man was arrested at the scene and the prosecutor has opened a terrorist inquiry because the suspect reportedly shouted "Allahu Akbar", or "God is great".

The man injured two police officers seriously, one in the neck and one in the chest. A civilian who tried to intervene was stabbed and killed.

The suspect was subject to a deportation order because he was on a terrorism watch list, according to the local prosecutor. President Emmanuel Macron said there was "no doubt it was an Islamist terrorist attack".

After expressing his condolences to the family of the victim, Macron said: "I want to reiterate the determination of the government, and mine, to continue the work to eradicate terrorism on our soil."

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Friday there was no longer a shortage of Novo Nordisk's (NOVOb.CO), opens new tab popular weight-loss and diabetes drugs, Wegovy and Ozempic, a declaration that will curtail widespread sales of cheaper copies made by compounding pharmacies.

Shares of Hims & Hers Health (HIMS.N), opens new tab, which advertised its compounded versions of weight-loss drugs during the Super Bowl this month, plunged 22% to $52, on a day it announced the purchase of a plant to make the class of drugs that includes Wegovy and Ozempic.

U.S. regulations allow compounding pharmacies to copy brand-name medicines that are in short supply. Wegovy and Ozempic, both known chemically as semaglutide, were in shortage in the U.S. for much of last year.

Americans who cannot afford Wegovy or have struggled to find it have been turning to often cheaper versions sold by pharmacies and telehealth providers like Hims & Hers and WeightWatchers (WW.O), opens new tab. Wegovy has been shown to help patients lose as much as 15% of their weight on average.

WeightWatchers shares were up 5.2% at 77 cents.

For Hims and other compounders, this development starts the clock on having unfettered market access to Novo's drugs, Leerink Partners analyst Michael Cherny said in a note.

Three empty buses have exploded on the southern edge of Tel Aviv in what Israeli police say is a "suspected terror attack".

It happened in an area where the buses were parked in the city of Bat Yam on Thursday night. There were no casualties.

Devices on two other buses failed to explode, police said. Local media reported that one of these carried a message referring to "revenge" for a recent Israeli raid on a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the Israeli military to carry out "an intensive operation against centres of terrorism" in the West Bank in response.

Footage on social media showed at least one bus on fire, with a large plume of smoke rising above.

Speaking shortly after the explosions, police spokesperson Aryeh Doron urged the public to be on alert for "every suspected bag or object".

The Duchess of Sussex took to her newly-launched Instagram account on Thursday to share a subtle yet powerful message.

"From memory lane to the memories I'm making today…" she captioned the post.

Alongside the caption, Meghan shared a picture of a white frame that contained a collage of photos, quotes, and sweet keepsakes, ignore the negativity surrounding her brand.

The photos featured her delicious culinary creations, and a meta-style picture of her doing a food photoshoot.

Meanwhile, another photo showed the Duchess patting their dog and blooming flowers next to coffee cups.

However, Meghan’s post, which featured a collection of inspirational quotes from her former lifestyle blog, The Tig, also seemed to be a response to the criticism she received after announcing the name change of her brand from American Riviera to As Ever.

"Happiness looks good on you," read one quote while another said, "You cannot make everybody happy, you're not a jar of Nutella."

Another noted, "Stay close to people who feel like sunshine," while a fourth read, "Not to spoil the ending for you, but everything is going to be ok." 

The post also included a sweet drawing of Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, sharing a kiss while walking their dog, as well as a sticker referencing her home state of California.

To note, Meghan Markle is currently facing accusations of copying the name and logo of a small NYC clothing brand and a Spanish town's coat of arms.
