This is your Wheat podcast.
Hey friends, welcome back to the Daily Wheat Price Tracker. I am your host, Vanessa Clark, here to walk you through the latest wheat prices and what is moving the market right now.
Let us start with global benchmark futures, because that is what a lot of cash prices are built on. Chicago Board of Trade soft red winter wheat futures are trading around the mid 660 cents per bushel level for the front month, according to Farmbucks and recent USDA grain bid reports. Kansas City hard red winter wheat contracts are higher, in the mid 680 to low 700 cents range depending on delivery month, while Minneapolis hard red spring wheat is even firmer, into the low 700s.
On many elevator bid sheets across the United States, that translates into local cash bids roughly in the 11 dollars per bushel area for hard red winter wheat and slightly higher for spring wheat, based on composite bids reported by Farmbucks and regional USDA market news.
Internationally, we are seeing solid cash prices too. In Pakistan, KISSAN Cares reports wheat trading mostly between about 3,350 and 3,900 Pakistani rupees per 40 kilogram bag in key markets such as Lahore, Faisalabad, and Kalurkot, with some standout highs like Rawalpindi near 4,700 rupees.
So what is driving wheat prices today. Market news from sources like FXLeaders, Farm Progress, and Barchart points to a few big themes. First, expectations of strong Chinese import demand are helping support corn and wheat, pulling grain futures higher. Second, there are ongoing concerns about wheat crop quality in some U S growing regions, especially hard red winter wheat, which tends to push Kansas City contracts up. Third, global trade flows remain in focus, with reports of U S importers even looking to Poland for wheat, highlighting tightness and quality questions in certain classes.
Here are your quick takeaways. If you are a grower, this is a window where rallies toward recent highs in Chicago and Kansas City futures might be an opportunity to lock in a portion of your 2026 or 2027 crop using forward contracts or hedge to arrive deals. If you are a buyer, like a miller or feed user, watch basis levels from your local elevators closely; futures have moved up, but competitive basis offers can still create good coverage opportunities.
