In the first week, we found that that story of The Bible began with the resurrection of Jesus, after the tomb was found empty, and the church launched. And suddenly, something was true that wasn't true before.
Suddenly, there was interest in documenting the life, the words and the works of Jesus. That's why we say the story of the Bible actually begins with the Resurrection of Jesus.
Thomas, actually touched Jesus’s wounds, he confirmed for us, the one thing that we would want to do if someone you knew was supposed to be dead.
We have 4 Documents included in the Bible that document Jesus’ life. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
They are called Gospels, meaning “Good News”
When Gentiles became enamoured with Jesus, they immediately became enamoured with the sacred text of the Jews, the Hebrew, what we'll call the Hebrew Bible. The Hebrew Bible, or the Jewish Scripture, or what Jesus and first century people referred to as the Law and the Prophets.
This Jewish Scripture was embraced as Christian Scripture. Early gentile church leaders were enamoured with Jewish Scripture, they were not interested in the Jewish religion, they were not looking in Jewish texts to get the story of the Jews, they were captivated by Jewish texts because they were looking for Jesus, there interest was Christological.
The Jewish scripture that they started with is; what is called the Pentateuch, Penta (Five), Teuchos (Scrolls), literally the Five Scrolls. Those five scrolls are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, also known by Jewish people as the Torah.
