Zillow is currently getting sued over the accuracy of their Zestimates. Is it a good place for you to determine the value of your home? While it’s true that in certain markets and situations a Zestimate is a pretty close estimate of value, it’s not like that in Texas. We are a non-disclosure state, meaning that our official sale prices are not recorded. As a result, Zillow doesn’t have that data—causing many of their estimates to be way too high or way too low.  Zestimates should be used as a basic guide to home value. Why?  Interest rates are starting to increase. Back in December, rates were right around 4%; now, rates are starting to creep up to 4.5%. As a homebuyer, every 0.5% increase in interest rates decreases your purchasing power by about $25,000.
