In this sermon preached before the sacrament of the Lord's Supper, we consider the thief Christ remembered at the Cross. We see the humiliation of Jesus Christ for we who believe - the Lord of glory made as the chief of sinners and suffered as the chief of sinners - so that the chief of sinners might be saved, even at their 11th hour. We must be astonished and thankful for the grace of the Lord, seeing Him as our only hope, as we draw near to Him in the Supper. In this preparatory sermon for the Lord's Supper, we open up the Song of Songs - to investigate our love and desire for Jesus Christ. As the bride in the song is distressed under the sun with a neglected vineyard, we find our souls are often neglected and distressed with a life under the sun. That is meant to draw our desire and attention to our bridegroom, Jesus Christ, sighing that He would kiss us with the kisses of His mouth and that He would draw us after Himself. In this sermon we hear why the children of believers receive Christian baptism. That they are declared holy by God -1 Cor. 7-14- and that the kingdom of God belongs to such as them -Luke 18-15-17-. In addition, we find that God's dealings with the children of believers has always been the same - that they are under the umbrella of the covenant of grace. In this topical sermon, we consider the topic of apostasy due to a love and cherishing of this present world. We are chilled by the apostasy of Demas, who abandoned Paul, but was once called a fellow laborer of his. This tells us that worldliness can run deep and be undetected unless we check our heart to see if the world has exerted itself over Christ in our heart. We also find the remedy to worldliness in this text - which is to love the appearing of Jesus Christ. We are called to both mortify our love for the world and to inflame our love for Christ that we would be able to run the race well as Paul did and not fall into apostasy as Demas did. As our exposition of Luke continues, we come to two Sabbath controversies and we examine the heart of the Sabbath. We find that the Sabbath was not revoked or repealed by Jesus Christ. But instead He came to remove all of the extra-biblical traditions that the Pharisees had added to the day, which had turned it from a blessing to a burden. We seek to understand the substance of the Sabbath - the day Jesus Christ says that He is the Lord of. What we find is that it is a day we would delight in, if we truly delighted in Jesus Christ.--Preached Sabbath AM from Luke 6-1-11 on 11-21-21.

The external microphone was not plugged in.----As our exposition of Luke continues, we see that the Pharisees attempt to chastise Jesus Christ for His disciples' lack of fasting. Christ teaches the nature of true religion - that every spiritual exercise must have Him as the focus. In addition, we see that in the presence of Christ, it is not fasting that is called for, but feasting. But when we do fast, we must afflict our souls, seeking Jesus Christ who will put an end to fasting at the marriage supper of the Lamb.----Preached Sabbath AM on 11-14-21 from Luke 5-33-39.

In our series on Hebrews, we see that Jesus Christ was made in every way as us yet without sin. In His human nature, He is truly flesh and blood. The Son of God took on this human nature that He might die and atone for our sin, defeating the devil, and his power - the power of temptation causing us to sin leading us to eternal death. In Christ's death and triumphant resurrection, Jesus Christ has turned death into a friend of the believer such that truly death is sent to fetch believers out of Christ's love to His side.
