The Dallas area has a lot of options as far as places to live depending on your preferred lifestyle. Some people prefer to live in the city while others would rather stay in the suburbs. Even among the suburbs, though, some are better than others. Per Niche.com, here are the best suburbs in DFW.
Dallas has a wide variety of museums that every resident and visitor must take the opportunity to explore.
#5 Nasher Sculpture Center
The Nasher is just across the street from the Dallas Museum of Art, right in the middle of the Arts District in Dallas. Basically, Raymond and Patsy Nasher donated their personal collection to create this museum and happen to be one of the most stunning collections of modern and contemporary sculpture in the world. It contains over 300 masterworks by Picasso, Rodin, and dozens of other world-renowned artists.
#4 Perot Museum of Nature and Science
The first thing that you will probably notice about the Perot Museum is the eye-popping architecture. Designed by famed architect Thom Mayne, the building features a 54-foot, continuous-flow escalator contained in a glass-encased, tube-like structure. It’s actually really cool to look at. The genesis of the museum is a merger of 3 museums in 2006: Dallas Museum of Natural History, The Science Place, and The Dallas Children’s museum. In 2008, the 5 children of Ross Perot gave a $50 million gift to honor their parents, which allowed the ground to be broken on the current museum in late 2009. The museum as it stands today opened in December 2012. Inside, five floors house 11 permanent exhibits where visitors can go on an interactive adventure, study ancient animal bones, peruse gems and minerals, and play around in a 3D animation lab. What else can you do inside? You can experience a simulated earthquake, construct your "own" bird and then fly it using 3-D glasses, or feed terrarium animals. Needless to say, it covers a lot and will entertain adults and kids alike.
#3 Dallas Holocaust & Human Rights Museum
In 1984, a group of 125 local Holocaust survivors founded the Dallas Holocaust Museum. Ever since the museum's goal has been to educate visitors on the genocide and to promote human rights. There are three permanent exhibits—one focused on the Holocaust, another on human rights and the years following the Holocaust, and the last on how we deal with these issues in America today. Highlights include artifacts such as Nazi propaganda posters, and Holocaust survivors’ suitcases and belongings.
#2 The 6th-Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza
This museum is located inside the former Texas School Book Depository building – the spot from where Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK (if you chose to believe that). The museum outlines the political climate of the 1960s and cumulates with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963.
#1 Dallas Museum of Art The Dallas Museum of Art is one of the country's largest art museums, housing more than 24,000 pieces of art that span continents, mediums, and centuries. The museum includes exhibits of African, American, Mediterranean, Asian, contemporary, and European art. The DMA is particularly strong in European art from the 19th and 20th centuries, and decorative arts and design. The temporary exhibits that visit the museum range from site-specific contemporary installations to curations from the museum's collection.

Blog post: https://valetmaids.com/the-most-surprising-things-about-dallas/
People from other parts of the country think that Dallas is full of cowboys, ranch hands, and oil men. Meanwhile, people from other parts of Texas think that Dallas is full of BMW driving trust fund bros. Although there may be some truth in all of those things, there are a lot of surprising things about Dallas. Here are the 5 most surprising things.
#5 Walkability
Dallas has several walkable neighborhoods including Uptown, Downtown, Deep Ellum, the Design District, Bishop Arts District, and Victory Park. According to Walkscore.com, downtown Dallas has a walk score of 91, and uptown Dallas has a walk score of 90. For comparison, New York City has an overall walk score of 88. So these neighborhoods are pretty great and Dallas has walkability that rivals that of other large cities. Practically speaking you should probably still have a car in Dallas, especially if you ever intend to leave your neighborhood, but if you live in the right neighborhood you can walk to everything you need including grocery stores, restaurants, gyms, and if you are lucky – your job, too. Plus with the DART continuing to expand service, you can get to even more places without the need for cars every day.
#4 Greenspace
Dallas has a lot of parks and other green spaces and trails such as Klyde Warren Park and the Katy Trail. According to the Dallas Parks & Rec department, the Dallas Park System is one of the largest municipal park systems in the country with 397 parks totaling over 20,000 acres of developed and undeveloped parkland. Of these parks, it includes over 160 miles of developed trails, 4 dog parks, and 7 lakes. One of the great things about the parks is that a lot of them have regular free or low-cost activities such as yoga, movies in the park, and various recreational sports leagues. If you can’t find anything to do outside in Dallas, you obviously aren’t trying very hard.
#3 Diversity
According to WalletHub.com, Dallas is the 5th most diverse city in the country. Dallas comes in behind Houston, Jersey City, New York City, and Gaithersburg, Maryland. That’s not bad at all. The report took into account things such as industry diversity, income, age, religious affiliation, education, language, worker class, and marital status.
#2 Distance from Fort Worth
I blame the DFW airport name for this. It implies that Dallas and Fort Worth are next to each other. However, Dallas and Fort Worth are actually 32 miles apart from downtown to downtown. This may sound like a quick 30-minute trip, but add in the inevitable traffic on I-30 and that can easily turn into a trek that lasts over an hour. Just to be clear, Dallas and Fort Worth are two separate cities. Also, when someone says they are from Fort Worth, they don’t mean Dallas, they mean Fort Worth.
#1 How cold it gets
Dallas basically has 2 seasons – summer and not summer. Everyone knows that it gets really hot in Dallas. However, it can get really cold too. January is the coldest month with an average low temperature of 37 degrees. But Dallas can get as cold as the teens and twenties during the winter, and that is absolutely no fun. The lowest temperature on record is negative 8 degrees Fahrenheit, but that is rare. Just know that when it comes to Dallas, you have to be prepared for the very very hot and the very very cold.
