Oxford professor J. R. R. Tolkien, the author of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, was a deeply committed Christian. Tolkien’s goal in this trilogy was not to write an allegory of the Bible’s stories, but to create a unique mythical world with its own story. Into this story he poured the core virtues, themes and beliefs arising from his Biblical worldview.
